Lately I have been pondering over getting an after market bumper and the usual brands TJM, ARB are hard to get by (poor sales) and with my Toyota OEM winch its a challenge to fit them properly. A friend shared few links and I was amazed on the local Middle Eastern bumper market ! Check it out ...

I like how a lot of those don't have to cut the bumper like arb.

Thanks for sharing all of these.

I'm witnessing a new breed of bumpers, made out of fiber glass !! Getting quite popular but no idea on their durability or strength, but they definitely improve the approach angle for all that dune bashing...

@GX-R @DesertNomad ..any info on these? I hear they are sourced by VEET designs in Mussafah...

Looks like a super hit with Patrol guys !

As far as the fiber glass bumpers go, they are only for looks. If you face-plant into a sand dune they WILL break and i have seen them break on patrols. What i like about the tubular baja style bumpers is that they are genuine tailored to fit bumpers made by a reputable builder locally. The stock plastic bumpers can bend slightly which is good when coming down at severe approach and departure angles and then just pop back into place. The patrol guys like the fiber glass ones a lot and so do the 200's, but just give them a season or two and they will start to go back to more conventional shapes.

I know they make various designs locally in Qatar as well. Costs around 2000 riyals if i am not mistaken which comes around to $550, no doubt cheaper in the UAE. You can get any design you want and they will do it for you.
I can see how they can be useful for someone who doesn't want the weight and needs something for the desert while preserving the factory bumper at home.
Not a fan of them though and would prefer to go with the real deal ARB bumpers and a winch.

True mate, but I guess it makes a lot of sense for occasional dune basher ! Plus there is virtually limited options when it comes to local fabricators making Baja style bumpers, at least here in the Kingdom. We are stuck with ARB, TJM or ironman. For the stock bumper, yes I had it bumped several times and its hanging in there pretty good. But I guess sooner or later , I need to change it !

This is my favorite on the Patrol

Yes, the patrol ones are awesome looking, a friend of mine is after this now ;-)

OK first thing, can you share the contact info of these Qatari local makers or sellers? ;)

For serious expeditions/overlanding they are not preferred, but for a biweekly dune basher , they should serve the purpose and as you mentioned, no need to upgrade the suspension and you are good to go. Any aftermarket steel bumper is no less than 40kg !

Also the problem with ARB, TJM or whatever brand sold here, doesn't sell their bumpers accounting for the LC200 fitted with stock Toyota OEM winches. A couple of my friends with stock OEM winches went with TJM and had to go through some serious alterations and fabrications !

I wish to keep my stock winch and avoid the fabrications .... hence the search continues.... ;)
