My '01 LC died in a car-b-que on New Years Eve. At least it was one of my kids behind the wheel (he's OK), so I did not have to witness the conflagration.

Shed a tear for me, I was the only guy in Eastern Oregon driving around the John Day River come October and tossing a buck muley in the back of an entirely stock LC. And best seat heaters I ever had, after a day of fishing in January...thank you Toyota! Good memories in that rig!

Anyway, with all of "big money" (ha) the insurance gave me, and frankly the low inventory of good used LCs on the West coast...good luck getting another LC, right? So, been looking at 470s. Not an easy get, but have to be willing to be patient. And once I get one, I'm rolling down the road to MetalTech in Newberg, OR...like what they're doing, never went custom on the LC, but they (and heck, a lot of the guys I see on this forum) are putting some cool factor in the 470 that I never saw.
Take care,

Brian

Love my LX. Not a fan of the front fascia, but like the interior and ride. Not a big inventory of Cruisers or LXs here in Michigan, but both times when I searched for Hundys (in 2012 and late 2016) I ended up with LXs both times. Luck of the draw maybe.

Same here I like the front of the LC but didn't figure this out till I got my LX haha. Just got an LX late October and finally got it somewhat built up to where I want it for s while. Have fun with all the Mud mods Brian.

You might get lucky and find a two-tone LX.. the blue/blue will more than make up for the front grill and the weird trailer hitch. In the end, whatever you get will be good because it's an LC at heart.

True and you can put all the mods on it you want haha

I always liked the LX in Vapor Blue, and Cypress Green. Hold out for a rust free 03+ if you can.

I like the rhyme ("rust free '03")...but, wasn't that first yr of new type? Thought it was best to steer clear of first go-rounds in general, keep away from any issues.

03 was when they introduced the updated interior/5 speed tranny. No reason to avoid the 98-02 models, they're just as good, some argue better.

The "avoid the early years of the model" approach applies to most American built vehicles, which these are not. Cream of the crop my man.

What's wrong with the LX front end? You get factory projector low beams (easy HID retrofit) and the grill is attached to the hood, which means easier access to front, underhood components.
