I'm interested in an LC / LX 470 but headroom is too tight. Is there any simple way to modify the OEM seats to allow them to be adjusted lower? Or some other solution that would give an inch or two more headroom? Maybe a swap for a different seat?

Forgot to mention, I've got enough headroom in the GX460 but not quiet enough room in other directions (legroom, shoulder room etc) seems tight. I'm 6'8".

Big guy! There is an electronic height adjustment, but I'm guessing you already tried it at the very bottom. I'm not aware of any mods to lower the seat more than stock.

Sometimes beng 5'7" comes in handy! ;p

I am 6'4" but wear large tall shirts(all torso). Before I had my cruisers used to drive a 00 4Runner. I had a local welder drop the seat 2 inches and reweld the base. You might look into taking the seat out and shortening "the legs". Another vehicle to check out is the Lexus GX470...lots of head room.

Good luck:)

The non-sunroof headliner is for sale in US~$1,750

I'm looking for a non sunroof model LC/LX but these are far and few between.

MUD member landtank made and sold replacement seat brackets for the 80 series that allowed it to go back further. I wonder if he could do a similar mod to the 100 for a little more leg and headroom?

Wow I'm 6' 3" with a long torso (less than 32 inseam) and I fit pretty well in the 100 series. Thinking of upgrading to newer 200 series, I test drove a couple and sat in a few more. The 200 series isn't an option with it's extremely lower roofline and thicker headliner. It has at least 1-2" less head room.

I'm 6'3 as well. You sound like me in my old 4runner. Had to drive with the seat angled back pretty far, felt bad for anyone behind me. I'm pretty close to sunroof sitting upright and seat lowered all the way down. Feel for ya man :(

does anyone know if the height of driver and passenger seats equal? i ask because i've got a friend who is also 6'8" 350# (HUGE dude) and when he's in the passenger seat he's still got a little room between him and the headliner. He said he was comfortable, but visually was "snug" lol. He's always been a passenger and I don't recall if he's ever sat in the driver's seat, which is why I inquired about seat heights.

i'd guess the driver's seat could be fabbed to sit slightly lower, but IIRC there are definitely some obstacles under the seat that will prevent you from lowering it much, like the blower for feet heater (pics stolen from AATLAS1X)
