Hi all. I am new to the list and tried to find some answer for my problem but have come up empty handed. I have a '98 LC, auto, gas, 187k mileage.

The other day a coil went out and I replaced it. (#8. Second one to go out. #7 was the first) It was running fine before the coil malfunction. After I replace the coil I started getting a P1320 (#5) and it was running rough. I switched #3 with #5 and replaced the plugs. All properly gaped and torqued. Still go the P1320. I cleaned all coil and injector connections and used dielectric grease. Still have the code. The CEL goes on and off but it still runs rough. I have moved the wiring harness to see if it makes a difference and it doesn't. I am at a loss so any help would be appreciated.

Generally coil pack codes are the P03xx codes, so while the 1320 is def. the igniter circuit, I'm not sure where you'd chase that one down. Let me ask a buddy that a Toyota tech.

EDIT - are you 100% sure you replaced #5 and you were on the correct side of the motor? Not to insult, but it could be an easy mistake. Also, does #5 have spark?

Hi thanks for answering. Yes it did pull the coil pack code but it cleared after I replaced the coil. I have a diagram of the cylinders and I am pretty sure I switched 3 with 5. I replaced 2 coils so I go them right.

I have seen some post about the TPS. Could this cause the issue? I am going to read up today on have to remove and clean the TPS.

Thanks for the help

My TPS went out last year - truck went into limp mode, either 5mph or WOT, and it threw a different code than you've got.

I would double check your work, make sure the coil pack connections are tight. If you changed the gap on the plugs, I would check that, the Toyota OEM plugs come pre-gapped, no changes necessary.
