Little too much "bling" for me bud

Not much on the color scheme but if they're paying for it they can paint it any color they want. I'd still drive it, with a nice coat of read dirt and mud over it you wouldn't be able to tell.

Hmmm... let me see what I can come up w/ bud :D

Spotted a tan or gray 40, very nice, hitching a ride on a trailer on Kaliste Saloom Rd. today. Looked a little like Jimmie Bienvenu's or that one Larry spotted behind Walmart. Couldn't move at the time to catch up (couldn't have caught up anyway, Fred Flinston's car has more acceleration).

So a buddy of mine calls me today and says, hey I saw a red fj40 behind someones house the other day, but I just cant remember where I saw it. UgHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Think damit! I"m dying here.

Yep, I'm tired of seeing it uncovered and rotting. Wish they fix it or just set it on fire to get it over with.

Potential FJ40

Hello,

I had an FJ40 in college (before the internet existed) and ended up selling it because I couldn't find/afford parts. Now I found a similar '76 for $2500. What do you think?

Good
  • 59K miles
  • Warn 8274 winch
  • Broken aftermarket A/C
  • stock everything
  • Rear heater
Bad
  • Rust near ambulance doors from storing fertilzer
  • Rust in standar other places
  • Bad brake booster
It's been sitting for a long time an needs quite a bit of work. I have a YJ that I spent a lot time on, but really miss the Landcruiser look ( I also need another vehcile like I need a broke leg).

What do you think?

It runs... started right up, but idles rough. He thinks it from a leaking brake booster. My old landcruiser was a '76 also and the vacuum lines sucked ars.

I live in northern LA.

For $2500 dollars my friend thats a great start, most of the guys in here would gobble that up in a second. Minimal rust is common as long as its not to the point where your having to replace the whole tub or sections of the frame. There are guys here that do that as well too. It also depends on what level your wanting your rig to be in. A restored 20K garage queen, or a fair looking but well running rig you can take on the trails and enjoy? It takes time and money to maintain these jewels as I'm sure you already know. Its to what level you wanna take it. The sickness never ends for some of us. Keep us posted on your decision and should you pass on it please post it in the 4-Sale section here in the clubhouse. We may have someone else interested in picking it up. Welcome to the Bayou State clubhouse and keep in touch. :)
