Well, as usual, I'm not hunting as much as I'd like to. I've gone some, but not enough. Of course, I think I should go every day! LOL.

One thing I've learned to like a lot lately is hunting LC's and LC drivers. Scott and Larry conceived the idea of dropping fj40landcruiserrestoration.com cards on all the LC's we found and that's how we found a lot of our members so far. I still keep cards in case I ever run across another in a parking lot. The cool thing is, those are driving and on the streets.

There are a lot of LC's left unloved out there - waiting to be picked up and brought back to life. I'm declaring this the forum that opens the season on LC's. So post up wherever you see stranded, beat up, abused old LC's that someone may be interested in parting with.

Ole Colony Road

There's one in the back yard of a house on Ole Colony Road. That's near the intersection of Ambassador and Dulles. Scott and I already asked the owner if he thought of selling and got a quick no, but it still hasn't moved (hasn't moved in 10 years).

There's this one outside St. Gabe ...and one of my dearest buddies promised to help me gather a few parts from ... hadn't heard back from that one yet!

Scott!

One FJ40 on Hwy190 in Hammond (just west of I-55). One North of Tickfaw on Hwy51 and one East of Tickfaw. All sitting there for years, but the owners won't sell. Just rediculous that these people would rather have their LC's rust away rather than sell them to an enthusiast.

I have family in Ticfaw, and Lorange. I'd like to drop by to see them next time I'm in that area. You never know you bug them enough and evetually they might let it go. It angers me that people let them sit and rot rather than let someone bring them back to life. You do any wheeling in that area. That area has some great wooded areas for camping and wheeling. I'll post up the pic of the rig on Rena. I'm gonna wait another year and ask that old man again if he's still around. I know his wife would let it go. Good thing about that one is its under a garage and not in the elements. Are you in to B52's? My father-in-law flew them in Vietnam, this time of year is always fun he breaks out his old projector for Christmas and shows all the footage he took of his time over seas. Plenty of B52 footage.

Here the one off of Rena. Went there several times to talk to the old man and he said no. Worked for the forestry service for years. Last inspected 1998. All stock.

Would that be Florida blvd, a green FJ40 sitting in a lot under a tree next to a business? I think I remember seeing it last year, right after we moved here so I wasn't too good with directions(still not great, but getting better). If thats not the same cruiser, I'll go look down Florida Blvd this weekend and let you guys know.

found one

Found a really nice tan hard top fj40 with an old man driving it in Bogalusa. Pulled in the driveway and preceeded to ask if he might sell it. NOPE real quick. Of course not how silly of me. He uses it to drive around his farm with his grandson. I guess I sohould be happy that he uses it and it isnt going to to become rust bucket. Keep lookin

I gave him all my info and welcomed him to join us or if he needed anything to just ask. He said thanks but I got the feeling it was not something he was interested in. He sees the fj as a riding with his grandson in the woods truck, but when ever Im by his house I will stop in.

HWY190 does turn into Florida Blvd, and yes this FJ40 is an olive green. It's sitting on a concrete slab, north side of the highway, and west of I-55 in Hammond.

My friend (owns a 82 FJ60) stopped by once, I stopped by once, but the owner declined saying he was saving it for his son. It has a full rag top, at least one flate tire and no registration since 1980's (my brother-in law ran the tags one night on patrol). The license plate doesn't even register in the database!! The guy is just happy to let it sit there, and I know it hasn't moved one foot in the last two years! Will see if I can snap a pic next time I'm over on that side of town.

That's a different FJ!

The one I saw was about 100 yards off the highway, behind a single wide, with only the white top and a tiny portion of green body sticking out.

The other is red/white sitting in a backyard with weeds growing around it. It's east of town close to a bridge if I recall. My buddy and I stopped a few years ago and were told no as well.

Both were found by accident/ devine intervention.

Pretty rusty. There were a couple old notes left inside by other people. I left a card with the club info. Sorry for the crappy pics. but I left my camera at home and used my phone - we didn't plan on going out there initially and just found our selves heading that way. Sunday drive or something like that.

I spoke with the lady who owns the olive green fj40. She just smiled and says there are people stopping by weekly about the cruiser. She just smiled and said no her son wants to get it running again. I have seen bad and this one is bad. If someone needs parts they might stop and ask again in acouple of months, but really there is nothing there.

Wow, that felt nice! Thanks Scott!

I'll send $10 to buy a cover for it. ...they could at least cover it. It's destined for a slow rusty death.

Last, heard tale from Stephen Luke (Automated Productions) that his fab guy is thinking of buying the Opelousas rig Larry and I went to look at last week (that we don't have pics of...oops). Good luck to him.. he'll have his work cut out for him.

i did find a 1978 fj40 in pieces. The owner has everything he says to make the cruiser complete. It has a 4 inch lift he says and he does have the 2f or a 1998 vortec v8 and conversion kit for an extra $500. I think he is pricey but he wants $2000 for the Fj40 as it is. If anyone is interested a couple of us could get together and pitch in and take what peice or parts we each my need. Just an idea but here are some pictures of the body.
