295's fit nicely and they also will fit in the spare location without a problem....................No bigger.

I've searched but seems most everyone has 16 or 18" rims. Can anyone tell me the largest size tire I can fit to a 2004 stock 100-series (Japanese spec) with 17" rims? Thanks

I would use the thread in the FAQ and then find an equivalent in a 17". Maybe my thought process is flawed though.... I would think the height and width ratio would be the same regardless of wheel size. Hope this helps.

Based on the 295/75-16's mentioned above and the miata calculator website, you need to find equivalent to a 33.4 to 33.6 inch tyre, the best plan is to find at 17inch size that is as close to 33.5 inches as possible, then look at the most common tyre of that or similar size, then buy, no point buying if its really hard to find replacement tyres in your area or country/country's especially if you intend to do long trips

I am running 285/65-17's with no issues, but its only 31.6 inches, I would say the biggest to attempt would be 285/75-17's.... That's 33.8 inches and if u can test for free that would be best, post some pics if you find what u r looking for

Can anybody tell me. I have a 99 Toyota LC. It has the stock 16 tires. I belive currently they are 270/70/16. I want to run 285/75/16. Would I have to regear to run that. Also will it have added wear on anything.(I am getting a lift kit installed)

You'll be fine, a tad slower on acceleration but a good look. No need even for a lift. Check my pics, same size tires.

You're good. The size you're mentioning isn't big enough to worry. In fact, it may look kind of small. I run 285/65/18 without a lift and feel they are small.
