I have the Jeniko bolt in model and I love it to death....very solid and thin design that I position either in the center or in front of the passenger depending on who is with me...
I know others who use the seat bolt mount and really like it since the base is triangluated and strong.
much easier than building your own

Thanks, Good to hear.
BTW, I emailed you some time ago about disabled wheeling and have yet to hear anything.
Thanks for the info

Got a JOTTO in my truck and that sucker is stout...................

Thanks guy's
Im a cheap S O B and went with the Jeniko, I have looked high and low to find a decent mount and $200 or so is just a bit hard to take, Dont get me wrong, I liked the Ram and Jotto mounts.
I guess I will post up what I think when I get it installed, Maybe even a write up?!?

I just place a pelican case in the passenger seat and strap my laptop down to it. It also provides some mass to mute the vibrations of the vehicle. This works for road driving. I don't think it would work for serious off roading.

Thanks for the thought.
90% of the time I have my wife and two kids with me, So I would behoove me to have an open passenger seat :D
BTW, I expect to have the mount tomorrow(Mon 21st) and will install it shortly, Certainly before Cruise Moab.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on said mount...................

Here are a few pic's I took yesterday, I have mounted it on the trans tunnel, I started with sheet metal screws but decided I needed to bolt it through with 1" diameter washers on the back side.
It has some vibrations or sort when you hit bumps, Normal or not I dont know.
I would also like to add a tray stop of some sort at the bottom and use a strap on the upper side to hold the lap top, It came with Velcro to mount it to the tray

I will be giving it a true test during the Overnighter for CM in a week or so.

I cut 5" off the back end of the tray mount, That way the passenger could rotate it over.
Here are a few leftovers... :D
First is the cut off piece, Second is a tray stabilizer, However that is suppose to work  and last is the Velcro strip :hillbilly:

I guess for the $50.00 its worth it, I knew I would be adjusting things to work how I wanted.
I will let you know how it works out.

You get what you pay for!

Yup, Not arguing that, All the parts are nice powder coated aluminum or steel.
I have seen first hand what the RAM and JOTTO mounts are like, I just cant afford to spend that kind of $$$, I like to tinker and make things how I want them rather than purchase, I just didnt know where to start first off.
Its coming together, I will let you know how I feel about it in a week or so.
Thanks for the reply

Thought I would add that my lap top is a small older style, I dont need the big heavy duty styles...at least for now.

You may end up needing to put diagonal braces from the pole to the floor to help stiffen it. They shouldn't need to be all that long. Perhaps 6" to 9" up the pole to the same amount out from the base. I've been watching this thread because I'm also looking at installing a laptop holder.

Hey for the $$ you paid I am impressed.

Little update on how I have it coming together.

I moved my HAM radio so It would be easier to see as well as my laptop

I have Velcroed a power supply for the laptop as well as a "port bar" :meh: so I could use my GPS on it, My GPS only has a serial port...

Finally I wired in a 3 hole power supply so I can power the GPS and Laptop.

Im sure It will be quite a work out with all the weight on it, Not to mention one of the trails this comming week is pretty rocky.
Have fun!

Nice work.

Definately gives me some ideas of what direction I might take with my set up.

Just gotta figure out how to make all the wires disappear.

IH8WIRES.

Don't know that I would want to mount my HAMM on my mount either.

How much total weight do you now think you have that thing supporting?
