I recently had a baby and had to sell my 4x4 chinook + 88 toyota pickup to build a more baby friendly model. I decided to get an 1993 FZJ80 with e-lockers, rebuilt axles and rebuilt engine. I combined that with an 18ft 1986 Nissan Sunrader that had a blown engine. All in all, it came together pretty nicely despite having a slightly different wheelbase. I'm hoping this will turn into a build / advice thread as I am having some suspension issues. Ill start with the build and go from there.

Donated a pile of scrap to a local ally picker. In all the truck dropped about 600lbs

Started by cutting rear frame of the sunrader, as I planned to just weld that bit onto the cruiser to make the frame the correct length.

Used 2 hi lift jacks to start lifting the entire fiberglass shell. Note the vw jack stands (youll see those cinderblocks again later)

Made 2 wooden frames to hold the fiberglass shell. One that could be raised by the farm jacks and one that was solid to hold all things stable.

Had to lift the shell quite a bit higher to get the land cruiser under. I had learned a bit from the near collapses. I ended up deflating the rear tires removing the propane and black water tanks and digging a small out for the rear tires to fall into. But it worked brilliantly.

I set it down gently and welded some temporary posts in place as the camper floor ended up about 6in above the deck of the land cruiser. I could have lowered it further but this made the cabover align nicely with the sun roof opening. Also any lowere and the front doors hit the fbierglass of the camper, making them unable to fully open. At this height I still had to trim off the top corners of both doors

Didn't take many pictures of the posts. Basically they run length wise just outside the center walkway under the camper. This will allow me to cut out the center section of the floor later adding 6in of head room. I'm a tall guy so I really want the extra head room so I dont have to slouch.
