Just got back from Solid Axel Summit in Ouray,

Man, that was fun...

Awesome video, Tim! Super sad we missed this year. Great people and a great time.

Bad Ass Trip! Loved All the Laughs and Wheeling the World with Great Friends❤️
For all of you that don't know, @GorillaGrip is new to the group but has already met a bunch of the gang at @Ocho77 's party and Solid Axle Summit 5. She is a hard character to forget, lol, and she has lots of cool cruiser stuff going on. I will let her bring the info.

Many Cruiser adventures to come!

I'm in the area and really want to find a 40/45 to buy for $15k or less and it is so frustrating. For a truck that was made for so many years there's nothing out there. Doesn't have to be the prettiest, just run and drive. Surprised y'all see so many around.

These things sell quickly if they're priced reasonably for their condition. Took me four attempts and two years trying to buy one before everything came together. Are you searching nationwide ? Do you want one with rusted bodywork or somewhat clean ? How about configuration, original or modified ? 1F or 2F, 3 or 4 speed ?

I'd be happy with running/driving. Lol I can deal with rust as long as I'm not replacing the frame in a year or two. I prefer as original as possible as opposed to a chevy small block. And if I really got my wishlist it'd be a 4-speed, disc brakes, and have a hardtop. I'm not super knowledgeable about these yet so I can't be too specific as to my needs. I just one I'd be comfortable driving on the weekends or maybe on a camping trip to the Keweenaw.

Another first see green one spotted by Fran.

@Planespotting I’ve had my 69 for a lot of years. It was a gross rusty seized engine pile when I found it many years ago. Since then we found an ok 80 to buy and fix a lot on (16 yr old daughter driver) and later found a rough 72 “barn find” that I almost had going and now sits. I was able to source a replacement frame for it from Arkansas. It will need body work and I’m planning to do a 2fe based on a 78 block and fj80 head and brain.

Finding the “perfect” truck takes time and funds.

If you’re not on the FB pages you should follow them. Lots of trucks throughout show up pretty frequently, but you have to follow the feeds and be willing to jump.

As for my 40, it will never be a purists truck. It will be more of a monster than its ever been. Big LS, custom axles and suspension and big chubby cut swampers.

Actually, I bought on Tuesday in TC. It's a '74 that runs like a champ. No rust tub, frame, or main body. Mechanically super sound with the issues being a carb that could use a rebuild and a steering stablizer that could be fixed. 4 high and 4 lo work too! The hard top comes from a '78 and is super rough think I'm ordering a new roof all together and the winter project will be getting the hard top straightened out the interior stripped and painted and the wiring fixed. Should be ready to go in the spring.

Is this the same vehicle as in post #149 above ? Nice find and close to home, good adventures ahead. ed

@Planespotting, congrats on the purchase! Nice truck. Welcome to the "It's not a Jeep" cult. I also have a 74, (transition year - a bit of extra forum time in your future). You can always go down the EFI conversion rabbit hole. Or, there is a guy in Indiana on the forum that will rebuild your carb if you send it to him (fj40jim@gmail.com). Cruisercorps sell as paint called cygnus white for that grill!!!!

I don't know if he had more fun riding in the Rusty Nail Racing chase truck or fixing the rear shackle/leaf spring after we got back. He certainly has the bug!!!
I see you rig is at Mark's. He fixed my wiper motor !!!!! Are you doing the Nov. 6th ride in the Cadillac area ? I told Ocho to bring the euchre cards.b

A buddy of mine saw this one in TVC last week. I haven’t seen it yet in person, but we need to figure out who our new friend is!
