I've been a lurker here for a while. I was going to start unlurking once I found a land cruiser but sadly I'm still searching. I'm creating this post in the hopes that someone here may be able to help.
I'm looking for a land cruiser, preferably a diesel but diesel engines aren't too hard to find around me so I'd be happy with a FJ if it seems like a good fit. Something running well with as little rust as possible, or a project that needs a bit more to finish up. I'm not looking for one with an engine swap or crazy modifications. I'd like one that I can drive regularly on roads. I now live in the country and would like to have something that can tackle whatever gets thrown at me (flooded roads/snow storms).
I've been able to find cruisers that are completely restored ($15K+) or so far gone I can put my hand through the floor ($3K-). Where are the cruisers in the middle ground? To be completely upfront I do not want to spend over $6K and hopefully I'm not completely out to lunch thinking I can get something reasonable in this price range. The last thing is that I'm in Ontario. I'm not afraid of shipping vehicles or flying down and driving it home, however the cost of that would need to more or less fit into the $6K limit.
