First snow in the mid-Atlantic region today. My 2000 Land Cruiser is at the shop for some minor work. This is my first snow in a while not in the Landcruiser and I miss it. I have not driven too many AWD SUVs in snow but think that that 100-series is great. Anyone else have the same opinion?

I haven't had the opportunity to try mine in any snow, but the PO gave me a video of him pulling a garbage truck out of a snow bank with it, so I am pretty sure it rocks in the snow. It has Nokian studless tires.

First real snow with mine as well, with the AT3Ws it seemed to handle 18" in the driveway pretty well, though I haven't checked how well it will do on the steep bits yet.

Mine is a 98 before they invented VSC or A-TRAC. It works great at slow speeds on BFG KO2 tires, and is very confidence inspiring is deep snow. But not so great on the ice without dedicated winter tires and you definitely feel the wait on slippery and off-camber surfaces. Finally, once it starts to go it is much harder to get back in line due to weight.
Put another way, I will always take my 100 in the winter storm, but would prefer my AWD BMW with snow tires for winter highway driving.

Tires matter. The most comfortable I felt in a car in snow was with my 4th gen V8 4runner with studded Nokkians, or my tuned WRX with Blizzaks. My cruiser won't embarrass itself with the snowflake KO2's, but I drive accordingly.

Not great. ATRAC & VSC make doing doughnuts in empty parking not fun. :)

I have an 06 with k02s. Let some air out of the tires and it can really go through a lot & it feels safe while doing so. Having a lift on demand is nice for the deeper stuff too.

Nothing stops the 100 series until it starts pushing snow with the skid plate and your in frame deep snow. Don't get me wrong you can keep pushing through but you'll get bogged down for sure.

Worst thing in my area is the hard packed snow trails, the cruiser is heavy and it likes to slide the ass end out when trying to go downhill.

Oh and I have KO2s and also Mastercraft Courser snow tires with studs. The KO2s are horrible unless I am in fresh powder. The studded snow tires are a huge advantage and they grip nicely. The softer compound makes the ride alot nicer as well.

Glad I found this thread! I drive an 03 LC with 265/ 60R/18 tires.

Just found a great deal on same size Blizzaks and am looking for rims to mount them on.

Anyone have info on a good source? Thanks in advance for your help.

What I don't miss is ice with the bfg at ko2's. That's a scary combination.
Can you share why the KO2 is not very good on snow? Been thinking of switching from my Falken Wilpeak AT3s to the BFG KO2s.

They are excellent in snow. They just suck balls on slick icy surfaces. Most any non -winter specific tire would fail to impress on ice.
