It has 1GR engine. I'm thinking maybe the BCM controls the instrument cluster? . But I'm not sure as it's the same cluster since 2010.Hello,
There is no BCM in a 2012 70 Series truck.
ABS, traction control and other stuff started on 2013 model year if I remember correctly.
If your truck has a 1HZ engine, there is no ECU either.

Yeah I think it just runs with +12v. No BCM to convert it to +6v as modern and more complex carsHello,
There have been changes in the instrument panel since 2010. Most of them started in 2013.
The instrument panel is rather simple by modern standards.
There is an ECU for the engine in the dash panel and that is about it.

Thank you very much for you input, as I found it very very useful.Hello,
Yes, it is 12 volts. And yes, it is not as complex as modern cars. A number of pickup sensors, some of them electronic, send data to the circuits in the instrument panel, which convert the data to gauge/odometer readings. There is an EPROM in the odometer module if I remember correctly. The panel communicates with the engine and 4WD ECUs, as well as the fuse and relay boxes. There is an OBD port close to the steering wheel for diagnosing the engine ECU.
No BCM there., but separate systems that can be disassembled, repaired and reassembled one at a time.
BCM components such as relays and certain fuses are in separate locations, namely the relay box and the fuse box. Toyota moved the latter to the engine bay after 2010 if I remember correctly.
