Hello Everyone,

My shifter was very sloppy so after researching here, there are alot of posts indicating to replace the shifter seat and shifter lever bushing. I've got the correct lever bushing and I ordered part number 33505-35020, but this can't be the correct seat for the L43 side mounted shifter assembly. It is entirely too thick. Upon researching more, I can't seem to find the correct seat part for this shifter. Looking at the parts diagram, it doesn't actually show a seat at all. When I took mine apart, I didn't have one either, but I assumed that it totally disintegrated as there did seem to be some residual rubber I had to scrap out. Can anyone confirm what I need?
This first 3 pics are the 33505-35020 part I received and what it looks like after I installed it. There is just now way to reinstall the cap and spring assembly. The 4th pic is after I separated the two pieces of the seat. I am thinking about trying to use the black rubber piece as my seat. The last pic is the shifter diagram. Note that is is not showing any seat part at all.

For some reason my W56 EPC also doesn't show it, but I know it exists. I would try it with the green seat, removing the black spacer.

Also, Marlin catalogs something for the L43, but it says you need 4. Not sure what these are.

Well Pappy, I ended up having to use just the black spacer. The green seat was still too thick. The shifter isn't perfect, but it is definitely better. Those retainer bushings that you pointed out are part number 33615 that you see on the parts diagram that I attached. I got some of those as well, mine were shot. Thanks for the assistance sir.

Pappy, those black hard rubber things are part # 33615 on the OP's picture. There are indeed 4 required.

When I had the "sloppy shifting" on my L43 I replaced every damn thing I could to tighten up the shifter.

Just know that no matter how much you replace it's just never going to feel like a Toyota top loader shifter. My shifter handle still touches the lower gauge panel in 1st gear.

I have what might be a silly question, but what does the shifter and all its components connect to? I probably need to replace pieces in the diagram since my shifter is sloppy as well, but i'm having a leak in the piece that connects to to transmission. Will post a pic of what I am asking about highlighted as well as the leak on my truck.

I would think that your leak is transmission fluid. There is is probably a bad oil seal where the shifter shaft goes into that side case in front of the deteriorated boot you have circled in red on your picture.
