Had an issue with my driver's side window and assumed it was the switch. Turned out to be the regulator/gears in the door jamming. Old switch works fine, but is a little worse for the wear, so figured while everything was apart, I'd replace the switch. A new switch from Megazip and others was in the $300+ range. Found what appears to be a new/genuine Toyota switch on E-Bay for $80. Switch arrived today and looked the same, but the plug would not connect without shaving some small plastic "humps" off the connector. Plugged in and the window switches did not work. Tried the power door locks and POOF! Smoke came pouring out. Turned off the key, removed the switch, replaced with old and everything works as it should. Did I get a counterfeit, bad unit or what? Anyone have any luck with the "expensive" switch? I don't mind spending the $$$, but would rather not. The only time I roll down the windows in this FL heat is to explain to folks why I'm on the "wrong" side...

Hello,

That is not a 70 Series part.

A proper 70 Series switch is within that price range. Replacing it is plug and play.

Hello,

The parts catalog has a list that mentions Camry and Starlet. At the end of the list, it says Land Cruiser, specifically, JDM Land Cruiser.

By the way, by Price Range I meant around US$ 300.00. At US$ 80.00, the one you bought is likely counterfeit.

Since the part you bought blew up, it is worth checking circuit voltage as well.

It is worth trying a master switch from an 80 Series Land Cruiser.

All parts catalogs indicate KZJxx and Prado.

Voltage checks out fine. I was initially troubleshooting the original switch, only to realize it wasn't the switch. Original switch works fine, just thought I would update it for aesthetics.

I'll research 80-series switches.

Thx.

That’s a total fake part. Junk.

Hello,

It is settled then.

Make sure you get an original part from a serious supplier, or from the local dealer. Now you know about the price range.
