Hey everyone, So my dumb dumb self thought it was smart after changing my diff oil to put it in 4wd while slowly moving forward (stupid in hindsight know)and heard a clinking noise. Now my 4wd doesn't engage, but when I press the hub lock button in the cab, the front driveshaft stops being able to be spun by hand. Im curious what might be broken so can get parts together prior to starting. My thoughts are the Ehubs broke and converting them to manual hubs will solve my problem, but I'm hoping someone here might be able to shed more light on my situation. Thanks in advance!

Were your hubs locked when you tried to put it in 4WD while moving? If not, then the shift collar in the transfer case would grind against the front output splines. Sounds terrible, but if it only happens briefly it isn't the end of the world. I've accidentally done it a couple of times and noticed no abnormal wear on the parts when the transfer case was apart. Not any different than grinding a gear in a manual transmission.

If the front driveshaft spins freely in 2WD and with the hubs unlocked, but stops spinning when the hubs are locked, then your e-hubs are working as they should. Try leaving the hubs unlocked and engaging 4WD with the switch on the dash, if the driveshaft locks up again then your 4WD is working, if not then you have a problem.

I dealt with this previously and the tabs that provide a voltage from the hubs to the harness broke off. A very delicate metal part. The clinking you hear could be that piece just floating around now. If that metal tab breaks, then your hub lock light will just flash.

If your hub lock light flashes constantly now, then you may want to look into the AVM 463 hubs. These are a ''bolt on'' manual hub conversion for these trucks.

I bought these and did the ''resistor'' mod so now my hub lock dash light stays off, and only turns on when i press the hub lock button (which is useless now) some say the avm hubs arent as robust as a legit aisin hub conversion but I have found they work good for what i do.
