Can anyone with experience with koyorads for our 80's chime in. Talked to 1800radiators and was told that their koyorad for my 1997 land cruiser is a single row radiator. I havent seen it in person to verify physically but to those who have this, is it true? I have read threads saying it has been working well for most people but havent really seen anyone mentioning how many rows they have. Thanks.

My first Koyo had a 3 core with a unique offset core design, didn't perform great. The second one had a two core, with deeper core tubes, this is how all of the others that we work on are configured. Have never seen a single core Koyo, but if it were a deep/thick core, would potentially have good performance.

Have seen a few where the spec claimed single core, when the arrived, two core. Single core is common in later vehicles, my guess, cut and past type error?

I always thought that more cores is better. Was your 3 core brass?

Core thickness is the most important factor. Less tubes is better than more. In the good old days of all metal radiators the number of tubes generally indicated the core thickness. Modern aluminum radiators, not so much.

I always thought that more cores is better.

Old school thinking, depending on conditions, maybe never was true. More cores equals; less fin to core tube contact area and more airflow restriction, significantly less efficient design.

Was your 3 core brass?

It was aluminum.

I guess koyorad wont design a single core if it wont work huh. I wonder if i should give it a try. Am i the first one to do this? Ive seen other people buy koyorads from 1800radiator, wonder if they got the single row as well.

I got a Koyorad aluminum from Autoplicity this Summer. It was a 2 row. A1918.....works great.
