I have been looking at the weather for the Kofa area this weekend and it is projected to be about 106 plus degrees. The whole of the Southwest is and will be experiencing a heat wave.

Is this a concern for any in the group? Should we reschedule for the Fall? Should we pick a different area? Let's discuss.

As an alternitive: Carrizo Plain National Monument off of the Route 166. Carrizo Plain is known for its wild flowers blooms, forest service dirt roads, dispersed camping and maybe a side trip to Pismo Beach. At last look, temps in the high 80s during the day.

I agree with Jerry, I have been monitoring the weather for days now. This Record Heatwave we are experiencing, makes the excessive temperatures dangerous. I myself will not be going on the kofa trip . Save this trip for a more moderate climate Adventure.

I will wait to hear from everone, but I think we should pull the plug on this run. Keep in mind, because of the heat wave, it will be hot everywhere.
I agree that we should reschedule Kofa.

The latest weather forecast that I've seen for Carrizo seems reasonable (88/56, 78/54, 74/50 - Friday, Saturday, Sunday, respectively). I would be up for that, if it's agreeable to the group.

Alternatively, the weather in the Sierras is nice.

1) Monache Meadows forecast is: 77/52, 81/50, 74/49 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, respectively). The drive is about the same as it is to Kofa or Carrizo.

2) Virginia Lakes, the Lee Vining forecast is 74/41, 68/39, 67/39 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, respectively). There's nice camping there, and Kavanaugh Ridge trail is in that area. The drive is a couple of hours longer, though...

I will support whatever decision you make, Jerry.

Unfortuntily the Kofa run is out. However the Carrizo Plain National Monument run is on if there is enough interest. Please chime in Yes or No.

Meeting at the TemboTusk Shop in Anaheim Friday morning, 7:30am departure 8am. Address on the TemboTusk website. This will still be a camping trip with a possible side trip to Pismo Beach time permitting.
