Hi Folks -

I've got some super-weepy knuckles and am going to tackle the rebuild soon. PO did a few sketchy things (including replacing a couple of birfields) and I don't trust that all the shims are back in the right places.

Looking to borrow a knuckle alignment SST if anyone nearby Charlotte has one? I'm happy to provide a cash deposit since I'm new here as well as a rental fee (your choice of some $$$ for your trouble or beer of choice).

Are you replacing the knuckles or just rebuilding what you have? The knuckle sst is only needed if you install a different set of knuckles on your axle, or if you lose the orientation of the original knuckle shims.

FYI, ONSC does have a knuckle sst that's available for free to use for any ONSC member in good standing.

I'm not replacing the knuckles but I am suspect that the original orientation of the shims has been retained (lots of trail repairs and most recently rebuilt by a gentlemen who may not have remembered the proper procedures given the last time he did one was 15 years before). Thus, I'm kind of in the better safe than sorry camp since I'll be in there anyway.

You make a good point - I need to join! Doing that right now!
 
Iirc @fourtrax has the sst. Once you become a member, you are welcome to use the tool!
 
Jeff the knuckle sst kit we have is for fj40/55/60/62 axles. I currently have it, your welcome to use it. Just need to work out delivery.
 
I'm all done. Finished last weekend. Who wants it next?
