Anyone have the knowledge and resources to build some simple drawers?

Happy to help, just need some more information. What are the drawers going to be use for? For fine furnature we need to go in a different direction than drawers for a work bench. Also need to know what material you would like to make them out of and last what kind of weight do they need to hold?

Me too. I'm about to build a drawer system for the back of my Tacoma. I've got a fairly complete wood shop so can probably do whatever you need. But you gotta come to Tijeras.

I wouldn't call it "fine" furniture, but furniture. I have a deep built in cabinet in my den, where I put dvd's, cd's, etc. Other than the first 5-6 inches the rest of the room is useless. I figured drawers would help to orginze them and use most of the space. Even though there are doors that will cover them, I still want the face to look nice. I already picked up some 1x4"s for the sides, something for the bottom and stain close to the cabinet color. I mostly just need acess the tools to rip the wood (table saw, router etc). Trying it with only a circular saw has not quite worked out. I can't see too manys other reasons for now to spend that money right now for one small project.

Check out Woodworkers supply for drawer slides. I have a shop too. You will need to come to Corrales.

Home depot has a seemingly good seclection of sliders for this. I picked a pair a while back that are full extension and rated to 100 pounds (I think). Can't see about 100 dvd's per drawer weighing anywhere close to that. Wanna see how they work before I pick up more. Thanks for the tip. Not sure when I can get to those now. I have some work to make sure that is done for others that I planned. I don't mind running out to Corrales, east mountains, etc., I drive more than any of those combined in just about any given day.

What day is good for someone else, just let me know.

I'm pretty focused on fabrication for my Tacoma right now. However, you can use my shop space and tools whenever you like. Best to give me a little heads up to make room for you. I'm sure I have anything you'd need for this project and you're welcome to it anytime.

Let me know if you need contact info.

Understand, I would not mind seeing the build up of your drawer system. Get your stuff done. I have plenty to catch up on before I get mine done.

Drawers

I wish I could get to the drawer/storage project. I'm still in steel and welding. Fabricating a rear bumper and tire swing out is taking orders of magnitude more time than expected, especially when you mix it with real life.

I agree, fabricating a rear bumper is a huge undertaking. Mine took about 60 man hours to complete. We need to get together!

I wish you'd mentioned this BEFORE I started. I used to wonder why these things cost so much. Now, not so much. I can't wait to get back to a wood project in the back of my truck. So much easier.
