Know anything about this ram air kit?

First of all, from the pics it doesnt look like a "ram air" it looks like a "cold air intake", other than that it looks ok... minus the K&n filter. They have been known to let in some larger than optimal particulates....

That thing looks like it sucks air right from the engine compartment, I don't know where they get "ram air" from. And holy $700-800USD plus $120 for shipping:eek: edit: The US Dollar is getting crushed by the Yen right now. Try $877USD + $135 shipping.

You drive a Landcruiser, get a snorkel. It looks cooler, actually takes in air from the outside, won't cost ya $800 and you can stick with the OEM filter, which IMHO is a great filter. You can find yaaayyyyy better performance upgrades for 1000 clams. For a few hundred bucks of DIY performance, clean or replace your OEM air filter, new plugs, wires, cap, get your injectors cleaned :meh:

Besides, K&N filters and goofy cold air intakes are for Honda Civics with fart-can mufflers:flipoff2:

I say ditto with the snorkel

I looked at the product description on the site. Maybe this thing does something on a high reving 4cyl but it really looks like a complete POS to me. Its a carbon fiber filter holder that holds a dinky little filter.

Let's say it does work as good as they claim and it yeilds a very generous 10hp, you'll never feel it in a 6500 lb truck. It takes a lot more than an air filter upgrade to make a difference. There are much better things you can spend money on. Now if you have tons of money and you're looking to experiment, then by all means give it a try and report.

Snake Oil, plain and simple. If you want more power from your 1fz-fe, the intake canister is not the place to look.
