for me Calk Boots are #2 on the safety list after eye protection and before chaps..... strong foot hold on the ground is very important ...

I like to wear my caulks through my kitchen on the linoleum. My wife digs that.

^^^^^^^^
Just kidding, I've never owned a pair of caulk boots. We can't wear them on fires and my vibram soles do just fine for me. :grinpimp:

is it true that this company Woody's makes the chaps for Stihl and Husky?

Caulks are for real loggers who climb on trees. Vibrams with high heels are excellent. Hearing protection is one of my biggest concerns, you only get one pair of ears.

thats just plain BS!

i harvest upto 8 cords of fire wood a year from the forest, and i onistly can say that caulk boots are awesome and well worth the investment, ear protection is also important.

vibram soles are ok but in the undergrowth on a bank you can slip easy with them.

talking from experince here.

each to there own...

Depends on the location. Pac North West conditions practically dictate wearing calks to the grocery store, whereas pro timbermen in the South might never need to own a pair.

Got you beat there. ;)

Man if caulk boots make you feel safer and more secure with a saw, more power to you.

darn, still haven't figured out what to buy -chapswise-.

any more advice before I decide?

Buy the best ones you can afford. A-OK should have them in stock. Go look at them and try them on for fit.

I will be over in your area with our big show rig later in June.

ah! they had some generic chaps without labels, didn't know the size, and said they are all the same size anyway...

problem is I still don't know what the "best" is

but I'd like to see your travelling show and meet ya if I'm around....!

I was a Park Ranger for a while. Smacked myself in the thigh with a Stihl one day while not paying close attention wearing Stihl chaps. White fuzz went everywhere but no damage to anything important. Also wore HiTech steel toes as a patrol boot. Hit the toe one day too. Wise boot choice!
