Gidday Dudes. I am wondering if any of you guys have fitted an aftermarket Power locking system to your rigs?
I have pulled one of the rear door panels off to have a look and see how to mount the servo unit and it looks like it gonna be a pain in the arse. any help from someone who's done it would be rad

Here is a picture of a similar kit to the one i have bought:

I did it on my 89. It was way beyond my abilities, so I had a shop do it. It seems to me he had to build it's own little circuit. Maybe someone else on the board has some schematics. Good luck.

I did it on both My T100 and a friends T100. Although it was in conjunction with an alarm install and the Alarm I used has the wiring/relays built in. You might think about adding an alarm at the same time to help simplify the install and the integration makes for a sweet end result.

You could also think of using the factory parts from a 62 to do this, it may be easier, it may not be.

I'm interested in this for my 62. Damn spoiled I'm gettin! Next I'll be wantin A/C in my Dodge wheeler!

Yeah I would love to have this on my 60, would score points with the lmisses, no waiting for the unlocking of the door process to begin.

Other Rig

I did this to my Wife's old car... not a 60 but the same process. I had to buy 5 solenoids and a computer. The computer came with a wireless fob as you show.

The front two door solenoids had 4 wires, the other 3 doors had 2 wires. The 2 wire ones are easy (red/black) to power the solenoid. The 4 wire units sensed when you pushed down/pulled up on the door lock. This allowed you to lock/unlock the doors with the fob or by pulling up/pushing down on the lock.

It was rather easy. Hardest part is finding a place to mount the solenoid. It did come with a long rod so that you could mount it at fairly extreme angles and pretty far away. Once you mount them, you have to "adjust" the rod so that it fully locked/unlocked the door - pretty easy but takes time.

Unit worked well for years. Only problem is that the computer was cheap - it tended to not lock at times when pushing down door lock.

which one is that?

I just bought this one...http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/Autoloc/detail.lasso?itemid=CA4000 but am waiting for it to be shipped. One guy on the BC coastal cruisers modernized the 60 (a little) - IH8MUD.com Forum installed these.

I bought the one with an alarm. Was 230.00 CND at KMS car parts in BC.

I'll do a thread when I finally get it here and install it. Luckily my doors are all open now, as I just installed all the components after painting and sound proofing.

Any updates on this?

looks like they changed their build on these puppies. I just bought their top of the line alarm only to find out there are no on board relays!! AACK. No worries though, they provide a very easy wiring diagram for the relay. Just tryning to figure out how many relays are needed for all four actuators. I'm starting my build including sound system and IPOR seats this weekend.

Definitely keep us posted with pics.
I'm holding off installing my new stereo, speakers and sound insulation because I only want to open the door panels once and want to include keyless entry w/alarm.

I put the central locking in my 60... not the remote sort.. just the sort that you turn the key and they all pop up.. bit of a head **** to do and i can see why they charge so much at the shop to do it.. but it was a good day's work. for me. 1st time. kit was 30 bucks. worth it;. got all wiring needed and 4 actuators and the little black computer box thing.
good stuff.

Ok I have to ask, what is "on board relays" that seem to be such a pain? I would have bought the same kit, but now it doesn't seem like a "kit" now?

I have 3 out of 4 solenoids installed. The rear ones are far more work to get in place.

The rear ones I had to mount with the strip provided and work the solenoid in reverse.

But it's not a big deal to install these. The autoloc brand is really decent. I installed a kit in my 80 series too, minus the door actuators as 80's have power locks.

I bought the autoloc kit with the alarm, so it should add a degree of anti theft to it.

I just got my kit from the Hoffman group. It came with two relays. It's going to be project to install, since I'm redoing my stereo setup speakers, amp, and deck (inside tuffybox) and second skining my doors with their sound stuff. I'll try to take pics as I go. But any upfront advice or tricks would be appreciated.

Thanks

after a major delay I'll be starting my project this weeknd. Gott lay some dynamat down first, then I start wiring and mounting the actuators. I'll post lots of pics as I go.

i'll be looking forward to the thread. i'm really interested in this since mine is a DD. makes for a real pain in the ace when it's raining and i'm trying to get my daughter in the back seat.

sorry about the delay on this. I started the project which includes dynamat and new carpet first, pulled back the carpet to find a bunch more rust. Sent her off the Bullington Speed and custom for some rust removal. Should have her back tonight, and I'll start again.
