Keyless Entry Questions??????

I have a 98 4Runner SR5 4X4 5Speed. My keyless entry remote has 3 buttons on it, unlock, lock, and a green button (what does the green button do?). Also what does the red push button on the dash do? Is that for valet mode?

I like my horn to beep when i lock or unlock the car, but sometimes it does and sometimes it does'ent. Is this just the battery getting weak or is there a way to turn the horn on or off? I looked at the link: http://www.parksoffroad.com/tacomam...o/alarminfo.htm but that does not look like my remote. I dont think i have a RS3000.

Vip 3000?

My '98 4Runner has the Toyota factory VIP3000 Alarm, and fortunately, the alarm owners manual was in the glovebox. But, my remotes have two buttons - both black, both unlabelled.

I find the entire alarm system so byzantine that I may unplug the entire alarm controller and make it really dumb. I did get it to stop autolocking the doors.

I think you need to get ahold of the manual so that you can easily figure out how to program just what you want (as far as horn beeps) out of the system.
It's far too complex to guess how to program what you want.

Ben, are the buttons and the key combined? If so, that is the securikey+. The green button is to turn the headlights on for roughtly 30 seconds. If this is the type of alarm modulator you have, here is a link to the instructions on how to program/utilize the alarm. If its like mine, you have to be standing right next to the truck to get it to work.
