Key turned off, ignition stays on and keeps running

agreed, I think it's the switch or as you said, a short or diode failing. I had trouble following the chassis wiring schematic. I hate that it includes so many models. I wish there was a 60 US FSM version only to view.

Yeah it is pretty puzzling. I have a lot of potential issues to explore when I get off shift this weekend. I’ll dive into it and update with what I end up finding!

So just an update, my old ignition switch tested ok but I replaced it with a new Toyota ignition switch from cruiser corps anyways. This has appeared to remedy the problem with no recurring problems in the last 2 months of daily driving.
