Did a search, found lots of programing info for the new LC, but not much for the 1998's.

I have two aditional remotes that I want to program to this LC, currently have one three button remote...thats all that will arm and disarm my LC.

When the fob is inserted into the ignition it takes about 2 seconds for the secuity indicator to go off, so from my reading this tells me that this key is not the master.

I have spent the better part of the day sweating my but off trying all of the programing instructions. No go.

My question is...what are the remote programing spacific for the 1998 three button remotes?

Thanks

Good question, I have the same year. In fact both my wife and I have the same year LC's and we only have one master key for each!

Anyone out there know "FOR SURE" the "CORRECT" sequence for coding a 3 button key??

I was trying to do two things.

One was to get specific/exact programing for the two remotes for a 1998.

Two, I want all of my doors to unlock all at once, and lock at once when I arm the system.

Did these LC sell for around 50-60K new??

Ok, I am confused, my 1998 Jeep Cherokee sport that I owned back in the day...could change the central auto locking and turn the horn chirp on/off if desired.

I always get persons grabbing the passenger door handle trying to open before I can press the remote again, this ends up being a pain in the ass drama tying to explain that they have to wait until I have to hit the remote a second time but it's really like there or for times pressing the remote unlock button. Yes, there is a brand new battery in the remote

Maybe I will try to run some jumper wires from the drivers door lock to the passenger side door lock so they can unlock at the same time, or one of my pa$$enger $ide door handle$ will be broken off.

Remote module locking system wiring diagram

Looking to have all of my doors unlock at the same time when I press the unlock button on my 1998 LC.

My ?

Has anyone tried to wire in jumper wires at the remote door locking module so that all the doors unlock when the remote button is pressed?

Does anyone have the wiring diagram of the harness connecting to the remote unlocking module that some one could post?

I am thinking that if the all the doors lock at once when arming the system.... than all can be unlocked at the same time by wiring in some jumpers.

I had to re-solder my buttons on my 3 button master key because the unlock was intermittent and the lock didn't work at all. I used a soldering iron for small electronics.
Works absolutely GREAT now!

BE CAREFUL if you do this!

Also, what does the price of the car have to do with door locks?? :hhmm:

Why don't you just push the button twice?

The factory door lock remote is designed to unlock the driver's door with one press of the button, and unlock all of the doors with two sequential presses of the unlock button.

same question, is it that much of a hassle to press twice?

Now if you can make the 98-02 do the full auto window feature of the 03+, id be more interested:cheers:

Yea, I do press the unlock button twice/three/four (the little red LED blinks when bottom is pressed) times until it unlocks, but by this time the passenger is quiker than me and pulls on the door handle trying to open. Than the is still locked because of this. This will result in me buying new door handles and lock motors in the near future.

I'm tired of giving an orientations about the unlocking delay to persons riding with me, this is my reson for wanting to have all doors unlocking.

The remote has a new battery.

The lees expensave vehicles that I'v own in the past have a setting for all doors to lock and unlock at once.

Also, what does the price of the car have to do with door locks??

On less expansive I'v owned it seems that I was able to tailor the central locking system and alarm to my personl prefrances.

The remote looks as though it is working because the little red LED is emitting when each of the three buttons are pressed.

Well, hope one day I can get these other remotes programed to my LC.

I personally feel there are bigger fish to fry than the door lock "issue". Unlocking the doors 5 seconds sooner would fix this "issue" or just telling your passengers to keep their hands off your doors until they hear it unlock. I've also never seen a door handle wear out, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

If you are still insistent on "fixing" this problem, go buy yourself a decent remote starter system with keyless entry and install that rather than jump factory wiring all around. You'll at least get some benefit from all the work you'd have to do with the wiring and you can also have your door locks the way you want them.

Another thing: I will start the double button Watusi as my passengers and I are walking towards the vehicle so by the time we get there, everything should be unlocked.

Fore thought my friend, fore thought. ;)

Yea, of corse I have fore thought, but my keyless entray system does not seem to have as much range as others here. The remote has to be right next to LC in order to unlock.

I want my LC to operate my way, all I would need is the wiering diagram for the harness that connects to the door lock module. I'm thinking there are four wires that controls each door locks, two for unlocking and another two for locking.

If I can figure out what wires are for unlocking for the other doors besides the drivers door. I would like to take these and jump them to the drivers side unlocking side of the module.

As far as the 98-02 to do the full auto window feature, this can be acheived with some relays. An audio shop back in area has done this.
