Got a 96 in the shop today....complaining of no start.
There was about a qt of oil in it, the camshaft broke apart from the timing chain gear, bent and broke valves and a hole in one piston.
Hopefully I can pick this truck up for cheap!

Oh yea, it has some chrome rims! nice new damage multiplier and some black magic lights that have never been wired up??

1 qt?? Interesting. Did it leak out somehow or was it just neglected? Sounds like a lot of work involved with that one.

1 Qt. of oil
Hopefully his loss will be your gain:cheers:

Do I smell a diesel conversion? ;)

he will be close to 10 or more by the time he pays for labor and various other parts he is gonna need. I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth rebuilding the motor that came out of the truck. The bottom end is not really hurt but it will def. need a head and cams, and pistons

How do you get from 12 quarts to 1? This requires serious stupidity! This guy does not deserve an 80. Take it away and buy him a plain white 4-door Escort! If he treats it like junk, he should drive junk!

Do you do your own oil changes? 7.8 quarts...or 8....is what i put in.

12 qts  put that in there and i'm sure you'll be spending 10 g's on a new engine also

Cheapest thing to do would be replace with a used motor. There are a lot of used motors floating around for sale under $1500.

its kinda nice to know that the engine may run on 1 qrt of oil, no?

Maybe its just me but $10K is a ridiculous amount of money for engine fix:doh:

I would either do a diesel conversion or just buy a new cruiser for that kind of money:idea: Just my opinion:D

Wait till this guy grenades the tranny because it has never had the fluid changed or checked, then has to buy new Birfields and a ring and pinion because they were never serviced and he all the gear oil ran out. I bet then he will blame you for everything else that breaks. Make sure you list out very clearly on the invoice that these items require service (and if applicable) appear to be overdue.

.

You should see this truck....it needs way more than just the engine. it needs pads and rotors all the way around, wheel bearings and that was just the start. the only thing he has maintenanced is keeping his chrome rims shining and the interior armorall'd.

does it have locker? haahaaaa....

Oil change since Dec 05?
