With that CAI did u see any mileage increase?

I though I had an increase after installing mine last Nov (about .5-1 MPG). I know attribute that to cleaning the throttle body and MAF I did at the same time. My MPG had dropped back to about pre install levels, so I cleaned the Filter, TB, and MAF again last month, and see the .5-1 MPG gain again.

I do like the sound better though with the K&N FIPK; a little more growl. Also, I'm almost finished installing the DT headers and I'm going to upgrade the exhaust (header back; passenger side cat is bad, so why not) when finished. Looking for every bit of HP I can get ;) Will be interesting to see MPG after.

Finished installing the K&N this morning and the sound is awesome under WOT. It also creates a lot of space under the hood for mounting other stuff (maybe ARB compressor?). Nice and quiet under idle. Love it.

I gotta say that the instructions were pretty crappy especially when it comes to the vent lines. I also think one of the provided new vent lines is too small to fit. Can others confirm this? One of the replacement tubes is supposed to go on a brass fitting on the engine that is probably 50% bigger than the tube. I tried for a long time to make the smaller tube fit on the larger brass fitting but I gave up and jury-rigged the old (existing) tube with the new one. It's ghetto but it works for now (no idiot lights). The picture in the K&N instructions seem to show a much smaller brass fitting. Was this changed at some point? My kit says 1999-2005.

The fitment of the 4th tube (the one you are suppose to re-use) to the K&N is also terrible and I really want to replace it with a new one.

Anyone else have these vent tube fitment issues?

Was the same for me. I ended up using a couple of adapters I found at part stores to make it work.

I definitely found a major problem with the K&N kit. The sound is so awesome at wide open throttle that there is no way your gas mileage will go up. It will actually go down. :hillbilly:

From start to finish, how long did the installation take?

I think about 2.5 hours including trying to figure out what to do about the breather hoses. If I had to do another truck I could probably do it in just over an hour.
