Ok, here's a simpleton question. When installing the K&N air filter, does it go flat side up? Whew, got that over with.:hillbilly:

I'm not here to start a debate nor I told ya so. K&N filters let more grit into the engine, that's how they are able to improve airflow. There is less filtration which means more junk gets in your 200's engine. I would stick OEM filter on a 200 in it.

Another MUD member said you might as well remove the air filter and drive around for a bit. Don't let this stop you, but just informing you of it.

Let us know if you feel any difference.

In 80s tech K&N filters are generally frowned upon because the oil that coats the filter sticks to the MAF meter and it starts to send incorrect signals. It is preferred to run the OEM filter as it has very good filtering abilities. Do what you like, I'm just providing some info of what may occur.

Thanks for the replies. Will leave oem in place for my trip to big bend this week. Sure looked like a nice filter though.

Agreed....wouldn't you hate to get into a Magnuson Moss debate with Toyota becuase of an air filter?

I've lost ATV engines to K&N Filters. Granted, they were run in EXTREMELY dusty conditions, but it goes to show that the filter is not doing the job. Even my supercharged 5.7L Tundra breaths through a stock filter (though it was supplied with a TRD cotton gauze unit).

If you want to pick up a little response, pull the charcoal filter out of the airbox top. It prevents the airbox from doing the job required of it.
