Is anybody running a K&N air filter box that more or less fits in the stock location and will attach to a snorkel….. located in more or less the “stock” location !?!?!?

Can you post a P/ N ?

What’s wrong with your stock air filter box? I’m sure there is a K&N filter for your truck but the stock air filters are really good. If you’re wanting to keep dust out of your engine a pre filter on your snorkel would do that without having to use an oiled filter.

If you are asking so you can have a washable filter.. the OEM filter is Washable by design. So you can buy two and always have one ready when you wash one.

Also I don't know the answer to if you can get a K&N Intake which is what I think you are looking for. I will say that i find that K&N filter/intake setups are usually mostly beneficial when you are running full out, but actually i've had them decrease performance for normal everyday driving. I am trying to rip a system out of my tundra now to get a back to stock as it is eating my fuel and seems to be sluggish unless I am hammering it. Turns out no one wants to trade me for their stock stuff... likely for the same reasons.

Appreciate the comments on the merits of K&N.

Since I did not post looking for options on K&N, I did not mention I have done an LS swap, and for the last eight years I have been running with the stock OEM air filter. But strictly due to clearance issues I need to lower the assembly. Even if I make a custom box, I still need air filters that fit it.

Just my opinion, but recommend a new post with those details.
The responses you received were specific and relevant to the 1FZ and the nature of its air intake particulars opposite the use of a wet filter.

What type of clearance issues are you having. You can see the hood insulation touches my 90 but not enough to hurt anything.

Would a 100 series setup give you the flow and clearance you need? It seems to be in the same general area but I have not removed one completely to see if it sits lower. I don't think early model tundra or sequoia options will work since they are too far forward to the radiator support.

Or the 05 4runner airbox...

Also I have some vehicles I can take measurements on can you tell me how much lower you need to be? I can try to measure the various vehicles I have to see if they would be options for you.

The other bolt in option is one of a couple Aussie made housings that use a flat panel filter from a 200 IIRC. “Moonlight” is one brand.

Seems like there’s one out there that uses a Duramax filter too. These options aren’t small though. We’ll have to know what your fitment issue is to really help.
