Hello Everyone!

I just picked up a 98 40th anniversary from a friend of mine that wanted it out of his driveway. I was not really looking to get one but I just had to pay a small fee for it and take it home so a pretty good deal. I wanted to get a Jeep / FJ40 since its a smaller vehicle and better for off road IMO but I will see how this thing will do. It has 275k on it and surprisingly it runs great, just needed a jump after sitting for a year. I got a list going of what I need to fix on it to get it more road worthy until I get a better look at what is going on with the front end. The interior is pretty trashed so I got a lot of clean up to do in there and figure how to get the front seats reupholstered. A few questions for you guys, I plan on using this mainly for off road but I will be cruising it around on the street as well.

Things it needs right away:
Radiator, it leaks pretty damn good
Brakes, they work but you can hear grinding and such
Front end, not sure what it needs but it definitely is loose and clunky. I would guess ball joints, wheel bearings with the mileage it has on it, you guys might have better guesses then I would.

Question: Does anyone make a lift that is around 4 inches? The only one I have found is the old man EMU at 3.5. I was hoping to run 4 inches on 35's but welcome to some suggestions as well.

If I decide to keep it after I start fixing this thing it will be a pretty fun build I think.

I am not sure but I will double check. I need to get the paperwork in my name still so I haven't really done anything with it yet except drive it home.

Beautiful rig, my fav Land Cruiser in fact! I was specifically seeking a 40th Anniversary model before I jumped over to the 100-series rigs.

I also think it's a '97 because that's the year they produced these special models and also the last year the 80-series was made. You found yourself in the 100-series forum, and I dont think anybody minds one bit, but the correct tech forum for your vehicle would be the 80-series forum.

Congrats and enjoy!

Thanks! I will move this over to the 80, sorry about that. I still need to double check the year but I will take the forum pros word for it :)
