Just one question about BFG AT

Why would you run them at the max pressure?

Better fuel economy, I guess. I've always just been in the habit of airing my tires up to whats on the sidewall, rather than the door jam. Is that bad? :hhmm:

I'd say 40 psi would be a good starting point. Maybe less pressure if stock weight and more if heavy weight.

:deadhorse: This is all in the tomes of the forum.

E and D are the same tire essentially. The main difference is you can inflate the E's up to 65psi cold. I think D's can only go to 50 or so.

They are essentially the same tire but the difference between E and D tires are the E's are 10 ply and the D's are 8 ply. The E's will have a slightly stiffer sidewall than the D's. They should be a little tougher than the D's as well.

D's usually go on heavy half ton and gas powered 3/4 ton trucks. The E's they usually put on diesel powered 3/4 and one ton trucks because of load and weight issues.

Down in central and south Texas, everything offroad has thorns. It doesnt matter what kind of vehicle I put down at the deer camp, I always change the wheels to 16" and tires to E's. They are much more puncture resistant.

That being said, I put D's on my 100 LC. I spend 95% of my time on the road and was worried about losing the plush ride. I have had them about 10k miles now and am very pleased. And yes, mine have the snowflake.

I went with E's over D's mostly because it was what was available, however, had they both been available I still would have went with E's for that reason precisely. After my trip I'm glad I did.

Sorry but BFG's for winter use can suck my ass, snow flake or not. If you want a good winter tire then get hakka studded tires, they are amazing and you live in quebec so you won't have issues. I am in ottawa and will be buying them this summer as I drive up past fort coulonge about 120 kms in the winter pulling a sled trailer and all my gear. Once the BFG's get to about 3/4 tread wear they are useless, and once they his half tread they are just dangerous on a snow covered road. I've owned probably 15 sets of BFG At's or more and I'll never buy them again - oh and they don't balance worth s***.

Buy Hakka studded in the states and you'll save 1000 bucks.
