Sorry to hear about that Jim. Our Weimer had to be put down due to an acute abdomen the night hurricane charley made landfall. It is jarring to say the least to deal with a loss as unexpected as this.

Same thing happened to our German shepherd ... he ate too fast and then went running in the backyard, he twisted it so severly he was gone within minutes.

Well' she hung in there untill we got home.
we thank God for that.
but in the end, here stomach would not recover after the vet went in to turn it. she said 90% of the stomach was black and her intestines were strarting to die off also.

we went bach around midnight and put her down

I am so sorry to hear of the loss. One of the hardest things I've ever had to do was put my white German Shepard that I had from age 13 to 26. I chose to stay in the room while the vet administered the sedatives and whatnot. Incredibly difficult. I am praying for you and your family.
