do you know what caused it at all
i hear if they eat alot and then play to hard it can happen

she was young, like 3yrs old, we rescued her thru boxer rescue in denver.
she liked to play hard, jump all over our male, wrestle.
i had been on my way home so i don't really know what went on before i got home.
the dogs were feed about 4pm, my wife said she threw up about 1/2 hr later, then tried again but nothing came up.
thats a true sign that a dogs stomach has turned (i never knew that before this weekend)

the vet says that this can happen to any dog, and all dogs should not play after eating for a couple hours.

Bummer. I know how you feel. Twice in my life I've to the vet with a sick dog and came home alone. Its a horrible feeling, but it gets better with time.

oh jim im so sorry
i suspected as much as dogs almost never recover but i was hoping for you guys

I was immediately afraid of the same.

Jim, I am very sorry this happened to your pet. It is one of those unexpected and unavoidable things. I know that doesn't make the loss any easier.

You are in our thoughts and prayers brother.

thanx all :)
we appreciate every thought and prayer.

some say they are just pets, but we make them part of our family. and if you know boxers, they get VERY attached to you, and you to them.

she will be missed.

I'm real sorry for your loss too... My dog Jack is a part of the family and I don't even like thinking about what you're going through...

Brother I feel your pain. I am so sorry.

I lost my best buddy of almost 12 years back in December, so, this is very close to home. We still cry. I can't believe we're all taking it so hard still.

I'll stop by and introduce myself in person next time I go to my friends house just up the street from you.

Again I'm sorry,

Butch

Jim,
I have been there too many times, and i'm willing to go there again. I am so sorry for you and your family. Someone sent me this in an email. Different perspective, but maybe that's a Good Thing.

Good Luck, and sorry for your loss.

Why Dogs Don't Live As Long As People

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year- old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very much attached to Belker and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family there were no miracles left for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good the four-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on.

Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion.

We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.

Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said,

"People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life, like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?"

The four-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

:frown:

Well' she hung in there untill we got home.
we thank God for that.
but in the end, here stomach would not recover after the vet went in to turn it. she said 90% of the stomach was black and her intestines were strarting to die off also.

we went bach around midnight and put her down :frown:

thanx for the pm's guys.

this morning is kinda tough.
as we would normally get ready for church, all you would hear in the morning is the two dogs going at it,noises from two dogs that you probably have never heard before, unless you oun boxers.:) as long as one of us was in the room, they would play hard and beat the snot out of each other.(that could of started the whole issue)
my wife gets ready up in our bed room and i hag out here for awhile.
i asked my wife how she's doing and politely she says "please don't talk to me"
kiera(the one that passed) would also jump on the bed and lay right with her.:frown:

i believe this hits others more than some and thats ok. some can deal with it like it's nothing.....and then there's us.

Degnol: thanx for sharing that, kids are in tune are'nt they!

thanx again everyone.....thanx

jim

So where is Koop's forum apology. I think he should be banned until he does.

Oh my, I'm sorry I didn't read through the thread...

I'm sorry Jim. I bet she was in the back of the 60 when Kipper and I met you out in Moab...

The Rainbow Bridge

:crybaby:

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the "Rainbow Bridge" because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing; they are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!

You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him/her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again, again, and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

He certainly does not owe the forum an apology. That is childish.

He has taken a beating for what he said, and it was deserved, but he didn't do anything to the forum; he just said something nasty to someone whose dog died. That would be bad enough.
