Apex!

I have the perfect place - minus garage!

Actually, I'm selling my place in Apex - Apex is awesome and not too far from the park.
Here's a link to my place: 500 Pinewood Drive For Sale, Apex NC Real Estate

Honestly, there aren't really many bad places in the Triangle - I like all the areas.

 Thanks, but I was looking more in the sub $1000 a month range. Got $140k worth of student debt to pay off before buying a house.

You're moving in with the big ballers now son

Not sure what would be in that price range since i'm 3 hours away but i'm sure some one can steer you in the right direction.

You should be able to find a good house in the countryside with a garage or something for that, maybe even less. Depends on location and how much traffic you want to battle going into RTP...

Dude - I do not envy you and your student loans - we still have a nice chunk to pay...

Honestly - I wish I had looked on hwy 751 - it runs parallel to Jordan Lake between Durham & Apex...there isn't a grocery store per-se w/in 5 minutes, but there are major shopping centers pretty much at either end of the hwy (about 20 miles long).

It's kinda out a ways, but Land/houses are relatively cheap...I think Joe had a buddy who had a house for sale out that way...

Another cool area is Olive Chapel Road down in Apex - it turns more remote real quick, but still close to everything - I think that area will continue to develop and if you have property it will go up! But I have no idea on prices...

As far as apts - there are tons all over the place...I'd say figure out which area you want to live in and then find one there - there are nice ones everywhere. When we first moved to RDU we were digging through apt books looking for a nice place - and it was a waste! There are just too many.
We lived in Bennington Woods for 6 mos in Cary - not a bad spot - nothing super special about it though either. Prices seemed right, and they allowed big dogs.
Welcome to Bennington Woods!

3BR Twn house with Garage

Not exactly sure of this place, just did a quick CL search. It is a townhouse w/ garage. Less than 10min commute to Cisco. Let me know if you need me to scope some places out for you in the Morrisville area, happy to swing by and look.

 R

This one's a bit over your price range, but a decent looking house in Morrisville.

You're likely going to have some difficulty finding a rental home with garage in western Wake County for that price; but an apt/townhome should be doable. We rented in Cary the first 18 mos we were here for just over that price, no garage but the owners allowed our dog and we had a fenced yard.

As mentioned, if you really need a single-family home + garage, look in very western Wake, in Durham, Chatham, and maybe Orange counties.

Also remember, this is NC, coming from NY you'll find the weather very agreeable almost all year for working on a Cruiser outdoors.

Jared my buddy took his house off 751 off the market - it's an awesome 5 acre property that has a wilderness buffer between it and Jordan Lake. If I had the coin I woulda bought it!

Is that so? I'm looking forward to it!

Thanks for the recommendations guys! I am trying to stay away from big apartment complexes as I don't like the feel of them and they usually don't take kindly to you working on your busted junk in the parking lot:lol:

3 br / 2.5 ba house

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely use Craigslist. I actually saw that first house, funny you should mention it.

Thanks for the offer to scope places out for me! I just may take you up on that...

I know that it'll be better weather to work outdoors but that's not what I'm worried about. My 60 won't fit in 90% of garages anyway but I've gotta have some place to put my ( future 220v ) welder, my spare axle housings, spare frame pieces, spare parts, tools, etc. More of a greasy storage room than anything else.

I really appreciate the suggestions guys. I will find a place and let y'all know how everything works out when I'm closer. I feel so welcomed and I'm still up in NY!

if he starts eating GRITS and drinking apple pie while watching NASCAR or CAMPING...then he is a convert. Otherwise he is just not only a Yankee but a damn Yankee....hahahahaha

It's a covert plot to get his guard down so we can give him a proper NC welcome, cain't hardly wait to hear the squeals from that purty mouth when we snooker him into a friendly game of cornhole.

Hadn't even moved to NC yet, and you're using y'all... Good job!

It's when he starts saying "All Y'all" that you know he had fit in for real :)

I carry the label of "Half Back" Moved from PA to the Fl Keys for ten years then moved half way back to NC, now in SC for good. After what we went through to get this property, I plan on dieing here.

Hilarious, I lived in Lexington for 6 months while I co-op'ed for Toyota and developed an affinity for the phrase "y'all". I've been trying to convince my buddies up here in NY that it's a versatile word that should be used instead of "you guys" but no one buys it. At least y'all understand where I'm coming from.

It's official, I accepted my offer and start June 13th. I'll be down there soon!

Hey y'all! Found what seems to be a good place. It's a 3 bedroom house, one car attached garage, fenced in back yard with a small patio and 1650 square feet. The house is renting for $1150 / month with a month's rent as a deposit.

I had one of my fraternity brothers meet up with the owner of the property to tour it and he said that the owner seemed to be a good person. According to Mike, the house is in great shape, within 5 minutes of where I'll work and close to a supermarket and good pizza place. Sounds pretty good to me! The street is Durston Loop in Morrisville.

I'd like to get your opinions as I have no real estate sense for NC. Does this seem like a good price? Good neighborhood and overall location in Morrisville?

Thanks in advance guys!!

Doesn't sound too bad - but could prob buy a place like that w mortgage being pretty close to that price.

Granted owning is a lot different than renting, but price looks comparable.
Biggest thing is you prob have to have at least 3% down to get a loan.

That's what I was thinking too. I want to spend some time saving before I buy a house and, on top of that, make some progress with my student loans. I plan to rent between 2 and 4 years before buying a place to call my own.

Anyone live near this place?

I know a coworker is paying $1200/mo for a 1600sf condo, so I'd say that's a good deal. You are less than 2 miles from me as the crow flies, and can nearly spit on Cisco's campus. I think that's fairly newish construction so I'm guessing it'll be really nice. Shoot me that addy and I'll do a drive by if you want. We will definitely be in the same stomping ground - we shop at the HT right beside your neighborhood and I can fill you in on all the local places - granted it won't take you long to figure it out since Morrisville is fairly small. Only bad thing about the area is there is not true bar in the area. There are a couple of restaurants where folks hang out some, but we would normally go to Raleigh, or Apex for drinks. There is fantastic access to I-40, and you are fairly close to get to 64W to the Uwharrie trails. Wilmington is 2hr drive to the beach, 2 1/2 hr to the Crystal Coast beaches (Atlantic, Beaufort, Etc), 2 1/12 hrs from the Blueridge Parkway and about 2 1/2 hours to Charlotte area. Central NC is not a bad place to be! Also, if you want PM me your hiring manager's name and let you in on what I know about them / the team.

PM incoming. Thanks Ramon!

I just noticed a home in my neighborhood up for rent. I'm about a mile from Ramon. I'll try to get a number today...

Thank you very much!
