What are the chances I can find someone to trade me my firstgen 4Runner, all of my crazy parts and everything for a halfway decent fj40? What are yalls thoughts?

Haha I really love the 40s. I was just thinking it over wanted some imput from others first. The 40s are just so cool

This thread looks familiar.

You asked, so if I were you and I wanted a 40, I'd keep the 4runner for daily duty AS-IS, sell all those parts you have stored up and put that cash towards a 40. Unless it is a really nice 40, not sure you will want to daily it. And if you get one and the 4runner gets parked, then sell it and go on.

Gonna be hard to find someone to trade you a pile of parts for a nice running driving 40.

Haha I may have had too many beers before I posted that question. Looks like the general consensus isn't to DD a 40 lol

Not true.

I loved mine, and certainly regretted selling it. DD'ing one never got old either, but keep in mind, mine was a 5.3 vortec with 4l60e, and 4 wheel disk brakes.

I'm totally looking forward to finishing my 1978 project too.

Don't get me wrong. I love the shut out of driving my 40 every day that I can. It puts you in a different place that is a much better place. That being said, it's hard.as he'll to haul cabinets and do countertop's out of a 40.

It seems that with every 10 year span, the driveability and comfort of Toyotas improved tenfold.

83 FJ60 vs 93 FZJ80 vs 03 UZJ100

From leafs, to coils, to IFS. I6 to V8.

They all have their place and deserve respect in their own right. It's fun to drive the older vehicles, but it loses some luster when you HAVE to drive something far older than you and depend on it every day. Don't jeopardize your ability to get to work to pay for your hobbies by depending on a hobby to get you to work.

My two cents - buy a Civic or the like to DD, keep building the 4Runner.

I was actually thinking about doing this. A buddy was trying hard to sell me his corolla haha I obviously didn't buy it, but it got me thinking
