Ok, so after trying to install the Pioneer DEH-1300MP HU that I had in storage and finding out it was fried, I purchased a new Sony HU from BB. I also have the Scosche 2-part harness that I bought from BB as well. I will be using the Scosche install kit that has a pocket below the HU. My question is, do I need to unplug or bypass the factory amp? If so, how do I go about doing this? I have used the search function as well as the FAQ section but have been unable to find the info I am looking for thus far. Any help is very greatly appreciated. I just want some tunes. Is this too much to ask? HELP!!!!

I'm pretty sure by using the gray harnesses you bypass the factory amp anyways... I still unplugged mine it's behind the tweeter in the dash on the passenger side

Remove or unplug the factory amp. It's to the right of the glove box. Drop the glove box for access. Then just wire up the your new connector to the grey ones. That's all I did.

There's a harness already in the LC that bypasses the amp and goes to all the speakers? Do I understand this right?

Why would this be in there?

SWEET!!!! I just got done installing everything (literally, just finished like 5 minutes ago). I also installed a Scosche black stubby antenna as the old power ant was broken badly and I prefer a short antenna anyway. WOW the sound is really good, and once I install the new speakers (either Infinity, JBL etc) I figure it will sound awesome!!! Thanks to all who helped and gave advice. Now time to go wheel with some jams.

I believe you loose the rears. But yes the grey connectors are in there by design for this purpose.
