I think the cable must stretch with time
I spent 5 minutes adjusting the kick-down cable (tightened the cable just a little), and my acceleration doubled.
FYI, the 91-92 tranny has a screen that is cleaned and reused, not a filter that is discarded and replaced by a new one.
You're right. And for all future reference, unless your tranny is having some really bad problems, I would recommend that the filter and pan be left alone. My 92 filter looked great and I end up spend a couple hours and about $50 for nothing. I would say focus on the little stuff first. Good Point. I thought I had a problem with slip. I thought I may have had a plugged filter, but once completed I did have that peace of mind.Gotta disagree with that. I would think you gained a lot of peace of mind from those two hours and $50; well worth it in my book.
Personally, I would always drop the pan at least once on a new-to-me vehicle.
