MEETING MINUTES – HORSETOOTH, JUNE 20TH, 2006

Quote of the night – Ben, when he said winning a Jeep was “like winning gonorrhea”.

In attendance were, Frank, FJ, Ben, Ige, Paul and Julie, Eric and , Damon, and Quent.

Money and a roster have been submitted to the CoA4WDCI, so everyone should be a member now and should start receiving “High Trails” newsletter from CoA4WDCI and the United newsletter.

All the information has been sent to TLCA and we’re waiting to be voted in to that also.

The July event is going to be on Sunday the 2nd, and we’ll be running Kelly Flats. Meet at 9am at the Albertson’s on College and Willox. There are bypasses around the obstacles and a stock vehicle with a decent driver should be able to handle the trail.

We had discussed a tech day, but this was dropped due to lack of interest/time/projects that don’t involve complete disassembly of a vehicle and can’t be put back together in a four-month period, etc.

Frank talked more about getting Trail Host training, Tread Lightly training, and spotter training. I will work on the Tread Lightly training and we can handle that at a future meeting, Frank would like to get the Trail Host training day figured out before July 8th, and spotter training is to be announced.

We also briefly discussed the End 0 Summer event which will be held in Poudre Canyon later this year, by the state association. Frank gave everyone some food for thought by suggesting hosting it either alone or with the other clubs in the area, like Mountaineers, Big Thompson, and Wagonmasters. We’ll discuss this more later.

Ige will be getting a generic version of the adopt a trail forms for everyone to carry. These will tie in with our Trail Hosting and will have areas to mark things such as; trail condition, sign condition, number of other ohv users encountered and in what sport (mtn bike, motorcycle, horseback, etc). This will help a lot towards tracking our trail hours.

We also discussed appointing an Event coordinator who would handle ohv events, plus, call members before the meetings, and see about getting the club registered in various parades in the community.

Damon said we have just over $383 in our account. We are discussing a donation to IH8MUD since they are hosting our forum. We will discuss a more definitive figure in the next couple of months.

Next meeting will be July 18th at Alliance Construction in Loveland.
