Can I sleep in the back of my vehicle, and park next to the cabins? Would that be considered RV parking?

For using the WMA land, a permit is required. I found the website where you can buy them online (here) . . .

The site says that it's a hunting and fishing license. Is that really what we need?

That is primitive (tent) camping in my book and yes, just pay the tenting fee and call it good.

Front end should be back together on Monday:beer:. The wife, son and I should be good to go........

I have reserved 1 cabin for myself and told the park manager Gary to expect calls from Jason and Chris Smith #2 for cabins. I also told him I suspect about 6 tent campers.
Best guess I could pull from thin air.
For reservations call 918-569-7981, let them know you are with Lonestar Landcruiser group. For the cabin reservations he needs first nights deposit ($55) mailed...so better get to calling and mailing.

Good point, thanks Jason!
I'm biting my nails waiting to see how bad the estimate's going to be. :-(
Happy Trails! N

Scroll down. It's the one that says "2007 NR Land Access (Honobia Creek/3 Rivers WMA)"

$25/person

I found that, but when I try to submit it, it asks me if I've purchased my hunting and/or fishing license and to press "cancel" if I haven't/aren't. So I click on "cancel" and it just puts me back to the permit selection page.

Anyway, I think the wife is going to come too, and possibly the Dogs if they are allowed as well. So I'm going to try and get a cabin, but only for Friday night since we have to head back Saturday night.

I saw those pictures - very cool. I don't think I've ever seen that much water up there. I think we plan on cruising around the WMA roads mostly. I'm planning on bringing my all-stock street tired 80, so hopefully I won't be tearing anything up on M's car. ;p Panzer, are you leading us around?

It looks like it's just going to be me - M and the boys won't be making it. (Sorry Tinstar). If someone has room in their cabin I'll split it with ya, otherwise I'll just bring my tent. There's a slight chance Rick might ride up with me, but he may have to work so he's not sure yet.

I got my permit online and printed it out, so other than throwing in some camping stuff I'm ready to go! I'm probably taking a half day off on Friday so I figure I'll be there late Friday afternoon.

FYI, the entrance to K trail that is South of the State Park has a gate up and the name of a hunting club on it.

TO get back to the old fire road trails you need to go North of the State Park (toward Clayton) and take the old road in (second right)

Follow that road ALL the way to Hot Springs if you like :)

Leave some bread crumbs at all the intersections on the way in. I have been up there now for 8 yrs and I missed the turn on the way out and ended up at that locked gate and had to backtrack (not really, I drove around it in the Bash Buggy....but not possible in an 80)

That's the sort of thing I can easily see myself forgetting to do, but I'll do my best. :)

1-All the big dog wheeling you see in the pics on the pirate thread...we will be doing none of. This is a stocker gawker run, didn't want anyone who was thinking of going to get skeered.
2-Unless someone that knows the area shows up, my plan is that we will pull out maps(Old School), plot a route and go exploring....and probably get lost at least once.

I'll have my GPS with me so we will at least be able to find our way back.

If anyone who's going, has an SWR meter for 11m, I need to tune my new CB radio, and would appreciate it if you bring it with you. Thanks.

Im leaving the midcities up 121 to 75 between 2-3ish.
Do you want me to bring the tranny jack?

I hope to leave around 5ish and head north.
