I can do the original weekend but not the weekend of July 24, if it matters at all.................

..........which it doesn't :flipoff2:

Just screwing with you Joe. I know 90FJ can only make the first weekend as well and I think he is meeting me there with some parts as well as some parts for someone else.

Have we decided on the camp ground? I assume it's the one that Brian linked above.

For those who have stayed there before, what are the details? I checked the info on the link but it was kinda contradictory. They said no power but then if you click on the map then some of the sites say power. Also, do they have bath houses or is it more primitave type camping...doesn't make a difference either way but the :princess: has been asking :).

I'll call one day this week if I need to but figured I'd ask here first.

What no Alcohol!!!!! I sure hope that is only for the primitive OHV campsites and that is not exactly where we are staying.

Also I might be brining some ATVs...A couple 4 wheelers and possibly a 3 wheeler if I can find a trailer. Otherwise I'm going to try and cram 2 of them in my truck.

I'm going to stop posting ride dates until I have all the details! No, we're going to stay at Linville Falls, info to come tomorrow...

No ride dates are good. Imagine if you were just posting this date only a week or two out. I know my :princess: would have found something else to cram it with already.

In case anyone is interested (particularly those with children). My family and I will be heading out Friday morning (July 17) from Raleigh to go to Tweetsie Railroad for the day. Then we'll plan to head to the campsite in the afternoon to setup.

Tweetsie Railroad: North Carolina's Original Family Theme Park

It's about 40 minutes from the campsite at Linville Falls. If you're interested in going send me a PM and we can sync plans.

I'm not going to be able to make it. I was supposed to bring some skid plates (for 90FJ, I think) to the run, would anyone be willing to make the transaction for me? I really need the money for some 40 projects.

Pick up National Geographic Map #779 or 780 for the Pisgah National Forest. It has all of the paved, non-paved roads, topo, trails, etc. They have em at just about any large bookstore, REI Great Outdoor Provision Co, etc. Its about $10.00 or so. If someone in GSO wants to use mine, they are more than welcome to it.

As an option, you can drive up Wilson Creek Gorge(dirt road called Brown Mountain Beach Road). Beautiful scenery, some whitewater kayak action if the water is up. Tons of forest roads up there branching off in different directions. Lots of hiking trails if you want to get out and walk around. It eventually connects to Blowing Rock via Globe Rd (again, all dirt, several large climbs, waterfalls, and stuff). Hwy 90 runs through there as well, connecting in the town of Mortimer, and goes dirt for many miles.

Expect lines at Linville Caverns if the temps are hot...we went last summer and waited over an hour.

For the more adventurous folks, several zipline companies have opened up around Boone/Banner Elk/Seven Devils.

Ah, globe road. I heard they shut alot of that down in the last few years. Wheeled it one time when I was at ASU, it's a neat little area, with some nice climbs.

Waiting on the wife for final confirmation, likely in for two and a hound.

You arriving Friday or Saturday. I ask becuase I might have to reserve one more campsite for Friday night, and to make sure we're all in the same section, I might have to jump on it...

Looks like it might be a Jetta trip. Title is comming for the FJ62 a week late and only could scrounge up one 4-wheeler so no need for the truck.

Count us in Saturday...we are leaving here around 8 which it puts us there just after 12.

Also I know we can have our dogs at the campground but is it possible to bring our Chi's on the trails with us? We really can't leave them anywhere as they can't really stand up for themselves at 9lbs combined.
