JP's brush with practicality got me thinking...

I have never in my two years of owning SORF considered selling it. Then on Sunday, as I'm cleaning out the garage, and see 4 cars lining the street knowing they are all mine the thought of selling it crosses my mind and I talked to Linda about it. I don't use it much, and she and Kristen never join me on our adventures anyway. (I'd rather they come)

So, I go to bed Sunday thinking that I might just do it.

Monday morning I get an email from the guy I bought it from (first time I've heard from him since I bought it) asking if I wanted to sell it back to him! Now... is that strange or what!

Turns out that with all the mods, the price is out of his budget so he won't be the one... Not sure anyone will be, but I'm still thinking.

Here would be the plan. Complete the 100... ARB front, drawers, tires. Use it as a trail/camping rig only. Linda and Kristen will join me in that.

Sell the 100 and buy another 40 in 6-7 yrs when Kristen is gone.

What do you think?

makes good practical sense BUT you'll miss the 40 :grinpimp: or atleast I did when I sold mine. You see how long I lasted; 4 months maybe before I picked up the new one. Nothing to me compares to wheeling in the a 40........ 80s, 100s, and FJCs may be more capable and comfortable but they just don't feel as near at home as a 40 does with the top off and the windshield layed down crawling through a rutted up mountain trail it just fits the part. It's almost magical

so if anything goes sell the Camry :D

also your first warning sign should have been me inspiring any rational thought

Steen - I hear you on the practicality thing when looking at the herd. In the last few months, I've gone through the same exercise in my head MANY times.

It just doesn't make sense to have vehicles someone else would use and appreciate sitting around, dormant for stretches of weeks, even months at a time. Most times, after a few days pass and I drive the vehicle a bit, the urge passes and I'm glad it is still around. I may however give into the urge wind up in your boat very soon.

I think the hunt for a new toy, new vehicle, new project, etc. is part of the fun. In fact, as I read this I immediately thought, hmmmmm...I wonder how much Steen wants for his 40, lol. Thank goodness my self discipline is much better than it used to be...

Good luck whatever you decide to do, there will always be other 40s to choose from a few years down the road if that's the route you take.

It is tough to even think about it. Guess I need to take a drive.

What I'd sell it for probably means I'll keep it forever:rolleyes: Never for less than $14,000...

wanna trade for a built FJ62 :D ............ hope some one does bite for you that 40 is about as well set-up for a there and back type offroader as you could want; you've done all the hard work now some one else will get to enjoy it

good luck sir

Secretly hoping I don't get a bite... hence the price, but I need to make the effort. Never know though... seen crazier things on evilbay!

Testing the waters my friend. Just might get a hit.

you don't have to deal with the "why do I have to park in the driveway while two old POS's are in the garage" line. :grinpimp:

I deal with why is there some much junk in the garage that I can't park?
