I am planning to take a trip to Joshua Tree for some froading and relaxation on the third weekend of December. I prefer not to go alone and would love to have some company if anyone is interested. We probably wont be arriving until Saturday early to mid-day, and staying until Monday since I am off from work. I will let you know as we get closer to the date if there are any more specifics or changes.

I will be compromising with the little lady and staying in Palm Springs so she has something to look forward to, just no camping and she is happy to come along. ;)

So... Post up if you are interested..

I am interested but will have to play it by ear to see how the month shapes up.

There is a full lunar eclipse the night of the 20th - 21st at around midnight. Might be worth staying the extra night to see it.

thumbs up

Awesome, lets hope that you guys are both able to go, plus a few more manybe..

I am thinking Sunday we can do Brooklyn Mine Trail...

I might be down for some "froading" :D if I can get my 40 back in operation by then.

Joshua Tree has been on the list. I know we have stuff going around that time, but might be able to get out there for a Sunday run. That would be a lot of fun.

You bringing the truck or the hundy?

well...

I think the 100 would probably make it but, probably the truck. I just got some stock 16"s for the 100, I need some new used all terrains for the new 16"s. Until I get wheels the rig is still stuck with chrome 17"s and I don't want to scratch them up, they are pretty clean. Brooklyn Mine on Sunday is sounding like a good call...

Looks like we wont be leaving until saturday night, due to a final. I am off monday so probably wheel sunday and monday a bit too.

I could do a Sunday run if nothing happens this coming weekend. Pls post rendevous plans as they develop...jd

Looking like I might be taking the 100, so I am not sure about Brooklyn trail, might just explore Berdoo Canyon. I am thinking of getting started Sunday morning around 9. I will keep updating..

Berdoo

Well I got my 33" BFGs mounted and the torsion bars cranked a bit, so I am taking the hundy. I am leaving SD early and will probably reach Berdoo by 10-11. I plan to run that trail and maybe a few other minor trails. Looks like the weather is going to be :censor: so.. I guess I don't care as long as theres no flash flood warnings..

Update

Got out late due to lady being under the weather. Ran part of Berdoo, 100 got some good use. Got it flexed out, performed great even had to use locker while exploring (getting lost) on side trail! Tomorrow I plan to run it again then head north to who knows where..

Weather canceled my plans. With the amount of rain expected I figured Flash Flood Warnings would be coming and sure enough the Warnings came out at 4:50AM this morning for noon today through 1PM on Wednesday.

ZPDFJ - Stay safe and out of the washes and really low area!

Thanks...

All I could think about heading up the wash was Flash Flood.. When I went to Cottonwood surprisingly the ranger told me that it wasn't a big concern! He said that "they" have not gotten much rain actually. He also said that when they get sudden monsoon rains in summer that's when it's more of a problem. Usually rangers lean towards the conservative side, I was surprised he said that.

I am in Norcal now, was hoping to do some northern Sierra trails but I am hearing that most everything is closed due to rain.

On the lighter side Salmon Creek was about 6-8 ft and blowing hard offshore and only 4 guys out. Of course I didn't bring my board :bang: Although I'm not sure my 2/3 mm suit would have kept me warm. The local dudes had hoods, gloves, and booties..

Awe! Thats depressing. Always take your board whenever near the ocean cause you just never know!

A good 4/3 suit and 5mil hood, booties and gloves will keep you warm up there!

Leaving Berdoo, some Jeeps caught up to me. My GF got in the car and said "there are two jeeps behind you and they are probably making fun of you because I am standing out here taking pics of you going over a tiny rock"....:flipoff2:

North of Goat Rock is the Russian River outlet, you can see that big trail of brown sediment from the river and all the rain..

Not a very well documented trip. I forgot my camera and took these with my iphone, I figured it wasn't worth the bother without my camera, next time..We did have a great time though. On the drive up I was flying past everyone in my heavy AWD 100 feeling very stable and confident. It rained almost the entire time but we had fun regardless. I must have eaten at least 4 whole dungeness crab over the week. We brought 6 home.
