Jolly Green Princess' "Build" Thread AKA The Land Tank

This is my wife's bone stock 1999 UZJ100 series Land Cruiser. Purchased 4 months ago with 115k miles on it. I rolled and totalled her previous one doing 60 mph on terrible road conditions in the middle of nowhere WY, but thats another story. Since we got it I pulled the floor boards (the day it hit the driveway). Also, cranked the torsion bars for less stinkbug/more level look. Next up the snorkel, and soon a Rhinorack, larger tires and some sliders. Hoping to get some preformance/mileage out of the snorkel but if not, we both love the look of them. We're trying to fight off the urge for new bumpers, winch, and OME lift, with the gas mileage logic as this is our roadtripper. I have been a MUD member on the 40 and 60 page, and decided to post up here to track the progress and evolution of my wife's rig. Albeit, likely slow progress, I will resurrect thisi thread as the "build" evolves.

Birthdays

So it was just my wife's birthday. Around here that means new stuff for the 100. I ordered here a snorkel and had it installed by Slee because thet thought of drilling a hole in the side of my wife precious rig scared me enough. They also took care of some minor issues that were bugging my wife, electrical issues that didn't effect the ride of the vehicle. I brought it home and it just didn't look right with the stock tires. The machine should look meaner once it has a snorkel. So we max'd out the tires under the stock setup. Keep in mind this thing was bone stock less floor boards a couple days ago. I think I mentioned previously we were trying to stay away from bumpers for now to keep the vehicle weight down and the MPG's high. Well we're well on our way now with the mods and I'm sure more will follow quicker than my pocketbook planned. :grinpimp:

BTW...the original tires had 5k miles on them and are on the 4 sale page.

Phil I love the build so far, especially because It's the same color as mine.;)

Couple questions,

What size BFG AT's did you guys end up going with?

Also, any trouble with the snorkel and the antenna? I have read with that model snorkel it may require modification to the antenna. Any Insight??

What happened to your front bumper? Looks loose to me...

Yeah the wife gets jealous if mine gets more attention than hers.

MPG's stock 16-18. Haven't drove it enough with new tires and snork to tell any difference yet. Just did all this yesterday...

BFG's are 295/75. No rub on street but haven't taken them off road yet.

With the snorkel the antennae mod is just notching the snorkel outer plastic shell around the antennae.

Front bumper isn't loose but I do think it got tapped in a parking lot or something. It's still stout so I'm not worried about it. The wife says if it get loose or falls off she gets a ARB or Slee front bumper so I'll throw a couple self tappers in it to keep it there for a while. :hillbilly:

Have the same color and same sized tires. They haven't rubbed offroad on mine at all so you should be fine.
The snorkel looks great on there. Mine will be on in a few days!
If you want to see what yours would look like with some other mods, check out my build page :)

Recent Upgrades

It's been a while since I updated this thread. Since my last update we added sliders, full set of skids, OME lift, and painted the wheels black. I'll update with pics shortly.

Sorry if I missed it but which rear springs are you using? Looks great by the way...

I'm shocked your wife is cool with all these mods! I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of pictures you've got, and whether or not it's left the driveway yet! ;)

Thanks! You didn't miss it and I haven't posted any pics yet but we used OME865 Rear Coil Springs from Slee's 1.5" lift kit for the level stance.

I'll post some pics tomorrow. I thought I had some on my phone to upload today but I don't.

It's left the driveway but you wouldn't know it because that seems to be the only time I take a picture of my wifes truck.

I tinted the windows for her too.

Here's a recent pic. I'll have to crawl underneath and get some of the skids. It was raining last night so I just pulled this off my wifes phone... and its not in the driveway!:bounce:
