Well, things finally worked out and we bought the Cruiser I've been searching for. :grinpimp:

1996 Lexus LX 450
- locked
- 107k miles

First things first will be the usual fluid changes, then probably a knuckle rebuild. Also I need to figure out which pulley bearing is failing, I can here a tell-tale sound that appears to be either the A/C compressor or the water pump. Then the mods can begin... :D

On to the pics... (click pic for the rest)

Congrats! :flipoff2: Great looking LX
Hurry up on the PM. Then the fun mods can begin.

Congrats!

Let the fun begin!

have fun

Sweet ride.

Very nice. Feels good to get exactly what you want, doesn't it?

The big question: It's so pretty. What color is that? I haven't seen that one, yet.

I think it's sometimes called "gold". We have a similar color on the 4Runner we'll be selling soon - though I'd say the LX is more on the tan/beige side of it.

When I went to check it out I was actually looking at a black LX with 86k miles (though it was unlocked). The black one was already gone when I got there. I don't know if it was dumb luck or what - but this one was in their "make ready" area and wasn't even priced yet. So I lucked out on the locker and a color that hides our famed northwest pin-striping a little better. ;)

(my Tacoma is black and was my wheeler prior to the Mog - so I know all about scratched black paint)

pull the pulleys off first and remove the little metal dust covers then reinstall. that took care of the sound on my vehicle. i just left mine off no noise since. (this would only work for the tension pulleys)

I had to check outside and make sure mine wasn't stolen and sold to you :D :flipoff2:

Nice lookin cruiser!

Ouch! The Lexus dealer wants $75 for each key copy and $140 for each alarm key-fob. Sadly only got a single master key with the car (and no key serial number thingy).

If anyone knows of another source for the items I'd love to hear it. Otherwise I'll just suck it up and consider these cheap for a $50k luxury SUV. :flipoff2:

Hello from a fellow LX newbie. I shelled around $50-55 for a key copy at the Lexus dealer. Saw a Lexus blank on eBay. Was about ready to buy it until the locksmith shops that I called said that these key copies are "dealer items only". :(

What ebay was useful for was a new key fob. I gave around $50 for two. Sure they were used, but they function fine. I was able to Google a copy of a page on how to set the remotes to work with the vehicle. PM me if you need that. However, remote programming is probably posted 'round this joint somewhere...god knows everything else is 'bout these vehicles...what a resource!

Nice looking rig. Can't wait to see what you do with/to it. Got any pics of the Unimog? Welcome to the sickness!:flipoff2:

Well, I still need a decent place to wrench on it so I haven't done much. (click pics for more) I'll leave it at that to keep this on topic in the FJ-80 forum. :censor: :D

Your ride isa Veddy Nyce! Looks very familiar. What a find too...106 on the odometer? very good. Welcome!
