Can't argue with a trail test - that's great that it already proved itself and proved me wrong. I should have but did not mention that I really like the idea of doing just what you were intending - building a bolt on rear bumper guard that can be installed for trail riding and easily swapped back to the hitch. I've wanted just such a product myself. So, with a tie in to the center bolts (2 would do it), what would you sell one of these trail tested mild tail draggin' devices for??

WildYoats....nice site....I think you have put more mods on in the shortest time period than anyone I've seen. Great Job.

Wildyoats, love your cruiser. You have done a lot of top quality mods to it in the time you have owned it. I like that bumper bumper you designed and built. If it takes the hit and leaves your factory bumper unscathed, then it has served its' purpose. Good work!

Thanks folks. I have talked with a few locals about making some, but really I wanted to pass along the idea so you creative ones will do one for your self!

Now, if someone starts to make them and become a millionare, please remember little (okay big) ol' Johnny! :D

I appreciate the compliments on the rig folks. I have wanted an 80 for the longest of times I guess no that I have one, all my dream and ideas for the last 10 years have broke the damn and I am building Rome in a day.

Oh and since many of you liked the garage pic, have you seen my Garage Tech Article? Eeek! Crazy Johnny is at it again!

Wow WildYoats your garage setup is VERY impressive! Excellent work on the Cruiser, too!

That is cool that is will withstand the bumps. Did you notch the pipe and run the hitch supports through the pipe? Or is it just flush welded? It probably wouldn't work for my application but my dad could use something like this.

Boy you would hate my garage. It is far from that clean.

There's no way you wrench or build for a living. That garage is way too clean and way too organized. My garage is the same size but I'm a building contractor who builds and wrenches and I need the room for all of my work crap. I just need a 5 car garage. Then it might look at sweet as yours. ;)

Cool bumper concept though. It's a good 1st phase. Build it out of 3/16" wall 2"x3" channel or tube next time, use heavy 8.8 or 10.9 bolts, throw in the pintle crossmember plate above, paint it pink and you've got a winner. I know a few guys who want to maintain the stock setup and this would be a cool reinforced setup without having to go over the edge into indentured servtitude for the other setups out there.

Put a fancy name on it and you can even sell them on the H33p forum. :D

Awesome Johnny!! Guys I ran into this a guy at REI in SLC and his rig is SWEET!! Everything he has done is just AWESOME and clean work. I think this kind of mod is perfect for about 75% of the 80ers out there. Occasional trails but nothing to extreme. Great job.

First off, I am unsure if you all read that this creation was already trail tested in Moab.

Yea, i read that. I guess i was one of the only ones.

Cool and inexpensive rear protection, Genius.

Wow! what a beautiful garage! I like the way the floor was painted. What kind of paint did you use to paint that garage?

Funny, the first thing I told my self I would be doing to the 80 is buying those seat extenders from Landtank. Now it is the last. I racked my knee the other day real hard getting in, looks like its time for some. :)

you appear (via the photo of bicycles) to be a tall feller....I'd bet the seat mod will serve you well.....

Awesome Johnny!! Guys I ran into this a guy at REI in SLC<snip>

What were you guys doing at REI!? Don't you know that they are HUGE contributors to the Sierra Club!? Shopping at REI seems counterproductive to me if you enjoy 4-wheeling on this great nation's public land. No offense intended, just trying to spread the word.

Johnny, truck and garage look amazing. I'm jealous, keep up the good work!
