At the meeting last night; it was agreed that we should organize a "stock" run.

I know none of these places WELL at all! if I "lead", then it will be more of a "where in the heck are we" run! and I am quite content on (leading) one of those. I only have very basic GPS's with primitive knowledge of how to use them.

I think that we are trying for next weekend, the 16th. 1st we should agree on that. So of those interested, is the 16th ok?

Cedro peak is always good, I think that Rudical wanted to stick with the Puerco, and I just peaked at Source3's thread that would be a cool run up Taylor.

My preference would be Taylor; the only concern being that far away, we should have a someone with a winch, or at least have two MORE power pullers.

Believe it or not, this describes abut 90% of our runs and that is part of the fun. Just do it! :D

cool, I'm really trying to push Taylor, but not willing to go alone. I am a total recovery geek, but will need one more person who has wheeling experience, cool head, a lot of recovery training, and a strong back.

I'll probably bring the family out for that run and help out. Any excuse to bring out the sled...

Ok, Becca would like to run Cedro peak; that will make it more of a half day run. and keep it closer. Cedro for the most part is a slickery trail with a lot of granite baby boulders; (nothing that a stocker can't handle). There are two obstacles that one could lock up and play.

Rudi, you and your bro cool with mount Taylor on Saturday?

As long as we have a guide for Mt. Taylor, I would be in. Cedro, if Ali goes (I think he knows them hills pretty well) that would be an option. I can't speak for Rad, but I should be able to go.

We'll be fine at Cedro. Hypothetically, there's only supposed to be one road that is open to >50"; I'm sure that they are trying to make it pretty obvious.

Me and the new guy, John, just ran Cedro last Sat. It's a good trail for the newbs and we found only one slick as snot climb that I couldn't make up (no chains). But, if there's more snow then it'll make a one helluva luge trail for sledding. In fact I pretended I was a luge when I failed the climb and came down backwards with all four wheels locked for about 35'. Luckily no tree bashing this time.

As of yet, no trail closures yet and everything is status quo. So, we can go from Zuzax exit entrance to the trail system all the way to Juan Tomas exit, down on south 14 (hwy 337).

yeah it was fun to play a little at will, it was a mellow cruise in general. only one spot i barely touched the chassis (dirt mound) of my stock deboarded 80. shorter wheelbase may have had no touch. shrug.

and it was interesting watching ali slide back down that hill (it was difficult just to walk down as well). needless to say i didn't complain when he suggested we turn around before it was my turn with the wife and kid

so where did you guys decide (sorry i can't tell from above)? i might go if it's close (i have some front axle service needed).

Sounds great; we decided on Cedro Peak this Saturday the 16th.

Try to assure Rad that this run is specifically for our families, and that getting him back on time is already part of the agenda.

Does 0900 at the ranger station on south 14 work for everyone?

Your guess is as good as mine, but I think Cedro, anyone confirm?. Anyways, anyone know where I can get a mount for a comet SBB1 and cable for my Yaesu in town?

Guy,

Where do you plan on entering the Cibola Forest? From Coyote Canyon, little south of ranger station?

Last time I did this run we meet at the Chevron off the Zuzax exit. Then we hook around and end up at the hiway leading back to the Ranger station.

There used to be a Ham guy out in the east mountains who sold that stuff. You might google around...

Yes, entering just south of the ranger station. I would like to meet at the ranger station to try to get on the trail as early as possible.

Can I Play?

Hello All,
I have been absent from the High Desert crowd for sometime now, (since the days of Stout Equipment) actually been out of the fourwheeling loop for a few years. I would like to try and make this stocker run if you all don't mind. I get off the morning of the 16th, and would have to pick up the family, its on the way to where it sounds like you are meeting. The Seqouia has been itching to get offroad. So, if you dont mind a non-cruiser tagging along, we would love to join you.
I may have the CB up and running by then, but if not is there someone who could possibly pm me a phone number and name of a contact person?
Thanks Ron Gunderson

hey Ron! geat to see you again. :D
