I'm Back

Yeah, Thanks hopefully we will have some time to get involved again. My shift interfered with the January meeting or else we would have been there! I don't suppose you are going on Saturday?

FWIW, I'm on duty that day, at BCFD Station 11, which'll prolly be 2nd due if you're comin out at Juan Tomas. Yr welcome to drive south n say 'hey', or 'nanner, nanner nanners', whichever fits. ;)

Tacorig, You are not invited, you're expected now! Siren, sounds like we could use some 40psi 2" line, do you mind a teeny bit of mud on your engine bay ?we'll try to show up. On a more serous note though, if there are in fact families there the kids may want to check out the trucks, is bcfd cool with that?

Always cool w/show n tell for the kiddies (even the grown-up ones :p), unless we're out on a call. Give me an idea of how many littles might be there and I'll give a shout to the queen of goodies, see if I can round up some stuff.

No-go for mud-removal though, due to a multiplicity of factors, sorry. :frown: Wish I could.....

Hey all,

I should probably introduce myself. My name is Radford (Rudy's brother- doh!- jk) and my wife and family (4 kiddos) and I are really excited to get to know the group and do some wheeling with the club. I have two stock 80s- One is a '94 (blue with no lockers) and the other is a '96 (white with front and rear lockers). I plan on building up the white one as I get more in to wheeling. Seriously looking forward to learning and hanging out with you all on this forum and otherwise.

This sounds like the perfect run for me and my stock '96 80 with lockers ... really was looking forward to this one but my wife and I have a commitment on Saturday we can't get out of. Don't want to rock the boat or contribute to chaos but if you all are down for Sunday we can go then. If not, no worries we'll catch the next one!

We (Ron, wife, and two little ones 4 & 2) are in for Saturday! I got the CB in temporarily, what channel are you guys going to be on? Still meeting at 9 by the south 14 ranger station? Looking forward to meeting you guys. How long are we planning to be out? (Are you all bringing lunch?)

CB is on ch. 40. Even if we don't plan for a lunch, do plan to take something to eat incase there is a hangup. Nine sounds good to me. As for time, I would guess half day, but ask the trail leader.

So we have:

Ron and Becca
Ash and Fam
Ron and Fam
John
and me

There is a good chance that the trails will be muddy and full of ruts so we may need to do mild recovery work. Hopefully the new folks have solid recovery points on the front and rear of their rigs.

Suggestions of items to bring with you: gloves for handling muddy straps/ropes/winch lines, boots and second pair of shoes (drive home), rain gear, snacks, drinks, camera and a laid back attitude!

I can bring an extra cb radio with mag mount antenna if anyone needs one.

I'm planning on showing up at the mtg place with my 4 year old daughter and the Border Collie. 0900 @ Ranger station.

The fire truck fun sounds cool for the kids!

Tagging along if you don't mind

My wife and I enjoyed a snow run a couple of years ago with your group. I've been told (by Pappy) that your runs are open. Hope that still applies. Snow-jeepin' is really a group activity for safety at least as you all know. We hope to meet up with you tomorrow and will be driving a red wrangler. We offer the presence of another winch, just in case.- Mark and Kelli (and a 6lb dog)

I spoke with a friend last night. It seems that the Cedro trail might be too muddy. We do advocate tread lightly, and we do not want to tear up the trail.

I would like to meet at the ranger station; go and see what Cedro looks like, but if we just end up spinnin tires, and tearing up the trail, I think that we may choose to turn around and maybe select an alternate run.

As an alternate, we could go up sandia crest, and go down 165 to Placitas; or simply run Juan Thomas road to edgewood.

Any questions, or input?

The trail will not be muddy where we are entering as the terrain is rocky. However, as we hit the intersection of 462 and Forest road, we may need to assess which way to proceed. We can exit by heading North on Forest road and then eventually come out near the Zuzax exit. If not too muddy, we can continue South to Juan Tomas exit (as originally planned).

See the attached pdf for more info.
