I have a couple things I want to do to the unnamed LX. When I get time I'll post my list. Just trying to find out if there is a weekend in January some of you guys can make it out to Elon, NC. Let me know!

I can't turn down an opportunity to wrench on other people's Cruisers, lol.

What's on the list? Late January?

This weekend (18th)

Early list: (more will be added.)
1. Install 1.5" body lift (still debating this)
2. Fill cladding holes and raptor line sides- finished
3. Fix/re - route exhaust
4. Drink beer
5. Remove rear bumper, play with cardboard to fab new rear.
6. Whatever jobs anyone else needs to get done
7. Figure out seat heaters
8. Possibly find freon leak
9. Eat some good food and Socialize!

Anyone is welcome, I have an extra bedroom and a couple couches. Plenty of floor space if needed so anyone is welcome to stay. I do live in a tight neighborhood so we can't get too too loud. I'll cook something and have a stocked cooler.
My welder will be fair game if anyone needs access to it for for a project they need to get done. I have have a normal 2 car garage and my driveway. Probably won't be able to wrench in more than 2 trucks unless we go to another location.

So if this turns Into more than just working on my rig and maybe one more, it may be a better idea to do this at someone else's house provided there is a volunteer. Haha.

Either way I plan on providing food!

Wish I had more than .35 acres!!

I want to get get a little more room under there for heat dispersion when I re - route my exhaust over the frame. Then I can move my sliders up as well.

What date are you thinking?

1/11, 1/18, 1/25 are all free for me right now.

Let's shoot for the 18th! Hopefully I'll have my fence up by then and we can let the pups play in the back yard.

Ahh man, I will be just getting back to school then. I wish I could make it. 1.5" BL, are are you going with? Jonesy's? Leisurely installed my 1" BL with a friend of mine in about 2 hours using hand tools. Not too bad.

Any weekend in January.. that's why I posted. See what's better for you all.

So... I MIGHT have a change of plans. Not 100% sure yet but let me bounce some things off of you guys..

Anyone ever installed chain link fence? I can handle it but at one point I need to go up a slope that runs for about 5 or 6 feet and is about a 4 foot incline. I have no clue what I'm doing so I may turn this into a non - wrenching HAMOM. If anyone at all is interested in helping me, PLEASE let me know!

I also plan on installing a retaining wall to remove the slope I was talking about. But it won't be under the fence... I am going to keep researching how to put up chain link fence AND a retaining wall..
Still need to decide what blocks to use for the retaining wall (Jonny) but I have almost everything for the fencing.

If anyone has any experience in chain link fence installation, I'm all ears!

HAMOM is set for the weekend of the 18th. If nobody at all wants to help me with the fence, there is always work on the LX.

Thanks!
Ryan

Wall is more than a one-day project how I do it. You've got to dig a footer, compact crushed rock in 4" lifts, set the first course, then stack. It takes some time, especially at the length you're talking about. Fencing isn't bad at all though.

You just need to put fence up an incline?

Yeah. I know the wall will take time. The fence us the important thing due to the fact that u have 2 dogs, one who is 160 lbs.

Yeah the fence has to go up an incline right in the middle of both sides. Not sure the geometry in putting a chain link flat, then incline, and flat again...

Whether or not you need a footer for a retaining wall depends on height and material. You can generally do anything less than 3 feet tall in stacked stone without much of a footer and it'll be fine. If you build it out of timbers you can get away with no footer as long as you have proper drainage behind the wall and adequate dead men. If you'd like you can send me some pics of the area you intend to build the wall and I can give you some helpful suggestions. I've been doing retaining walls and bulk heads since I was a kid. As for the chain link fencing, the key is a stretcher. If the incline is a gradual transition you can run a continuous line. If the incline is too much then you have to break the chain link into sections. PM me your email if I can give you any more info.

Oops, well I guess that 7 ft tall bulk head I built wasn't permitted. Ha! In some cases in town limits a new wall might need an engineer permit but in most cases anything under 36 inches is a landscape improvement and not a structural concern.

Anything other 3 ft I thought needed a engineer to sign off on it. Or maybe it was taller

Meatball

Might be down east with sandy soil structure

4' in rdu but may vary from code to code... boom $1500
32" requires a handrail if pedestrian access/area above the wall

Meh. It's a private backyard build it right and don't throw raging keggers above it and you'll live. It's not like your applying for a permit and inviting inspection. If you have a solid clay base no real need for a footing if you dig it in a few inches and build a good wall but drainage is key in any scenario

Check out scott stone and luck stone in mebane for good stone selection unless your going with concrete block eeeewwwwwww
Then at least look at the nice block. Techo blok
There's also the yard on 70 east of gso. Cheap but not the style stone I prefer. Bring cash and a trailer.
