Multipoint LPG system

I have the multipoint LPG injection system, all automatic, starts on petrol then swaps to gas, I find it's unnoticable on performance compared to petrol, I can push a button on the dash and swap from one to another and you can't tell any difference.

When I fill from empty on LPG it takes about 69 litres and it depends on the temperature of the weather, summer here in the uk it fill up on about 67 to 69 litres and winter it will be about 69 to 71 litres

I have never had it do below 177 miles per tankfull, its normally about 185 miles per tank normal around town, and will do 200 to 210 miles on a constant 70 mph on the highway.

I have included some photo's of the tank under the car, the dedicated ECU for the LPG and the multipoint injectors, 3 at the front and 3 at the rear of the engine, all the injectors go to each piston on the inlet manifold.

Had it on the car 4 years now without any problems, never even had the LPG system serviced since it was put on, perhaps I should:frown:

Snowwolf, cool system.

Was this a kit you had installed or was it a company that specialized in cng/lpg systems? Any names of the kit or company would be cool.

The kit is all manufactured by "Prins VSI" a search on google bring up a lot.

It was a local company to me that fitted all the gear was

Quality LPG conversions

Yes it is a duel fuel stystem, which can be great on a long trek as you can fill both the petrol and the LPG tank up and you can do over 400 miles before a refil.

Mind you, here in the UK petrol is $2.20 a litre where as LPG is $0.97 a litre, I just hate running on petrol and very rarely do! :-)

what if somebody rear ends you?, woudl that be like a bomb ready to blow?

Well, someone already had, a guy from sunny india deceided that he doesn't need his hyundai sonata anymore, so he wrecked it in my butt - I'll probably produce separate post on it.

The tank sits directly behind rear frame cross member, so you need to go through that to get to the tank. To do so, impact has to be substantial to say the least - I'll probably will be long dead from the impact itself.

From below, tank sits higher than rear diff and there is a sheet of metal to protect it too, so it also won't be the first thing to bang on rocks.

And then there is a tank itself. It is bloody hard. Friend of mine shoot old empty one with 9mm - barely dent it.

Mythbusters had a go at those too - look:

YouTube - mythbusters propane tank james bond pt 1
YouTube - Mythbusters Minigun - 007 Bond Special - explode a gas tank

Said that, never seen smoldering remains of LPG vehicles on roadside anywhere in Australia, and there is lots of LPGs running around. So probably it is not that dangerous. :)
